Last Minute eBAY Bidders
Nothing more exciting, or annoying, then those last minute eBAY bidders.
You gotta love when you bid on an item, in this case a 22" Samsung Monitor, and there are no other bids until 3 minutes before closing. They jump in there and bid. Luckily, I keep my Yahoo Messenger open for just such an occasion. Pop back in at the one minute, and MUAH. That said, I remember MANY times being outbid on things with last minute b.s.. Especially when it would close middle of the night. Some hawk would always jump in last few minutes, and sometimes even seconds, and nab it. |

Hey B
You do know that betting untill the very last minute of any auction is absolutly pointless right? Why would you ever do that? |

Use AuctionSniper. If you're not bidding at the last possible moment, you're going to lose everytime.

1. I do not use eBAY that often. Maybe a dozen times a year if that. 2. If I find something I like, I bid on it. It sends me the e-mail, and then I can 'watch' it. Kind of a very lazy way to do it versus your suggestion. But you are spot on mate. Honestly, most of the time I forget to even CHECK eBAY when buying shit. I just happen to think of it while buying some other shit online, and then went looking to see if there were any new Behind the Music DVD's for sale. I check there every month or so. I am trying to find and buy them. Now out of print. Last year, only things I got off eBAY were some Ignite's, drivers, and a few BTM DVD's. I simply do not use it enough to know all the tricks. Although it makes perfect sense. |

My cousin's husband has a side business of buying salvaged motorcycles from FL. He brings them north and parts them out on Ebay. 300% profit on some of the bikes when all the parts are sold.

I know a lot of people who are borderline addicted to eBAY and trying to get sweet deals. Some even buying on there, just to turn around and sell locally. Seems like a lot of hassle to me, but I am sure they could say the same about shooting content, dealing with early 20 year old skeezers, and so forth. A lot of money to be made I suppose if you game the site right. |

The less bids early on, the lower the price stays. When you get bids in the last few mins, the price only has time to go a little higher, so sometimes it works out great! I myself am an Ebay Sniper... |

Damn. Seems like a lot of 'snipers' out there.
I'll have to keep that in mind when I am bidding on RARE items in the future. |

I've got a HUGE inventory of old console video games that brings in a nice extra side income each month for us.
It's pretty much on autopilot these days, I just package things up every few days, slap labels on them and dump in the mailbox on my way out the door to the office. |

As I said before, I really do not use the site that often, and almost forget about it a lot of times and just buy new. But this weekend, since I was buying some other stuff. I remembered to check the eBAY. Picked up a couple of 22" Samsung monitors for new office. Reading over some of the replies. I see that some of you are working the site nicely for some extra cha-ching. |

sniping auctions is the way of the online auction. it's reality deal with it. i don't like that i have to pay rent every month, but i still do. fact is, that if you see something you want with 5 days left and you bid right then and there, you are stupid. why start driving the auction price up early? sit and wait, ready to pounce, don't let on that you want the product or that there is bidding competition. just dive in with a couple minutes to go and go for the gold.
that being said, sometimes if there's something i really want, i'll just drop a maximum bid and leave it. if anyone outbids my max, oh well... |

i never tip my hand on an item i want. i put it on watch and only bid at the 30 second mark, with a bid at the maximum i would spend for the item, the bids go in increment so my bid will always be the highest. that way i can usurp any other last second bidders unless they are willing to spend more than me.

Buy It Now, I hate fucking bidding, if I'm there to buy something, it's buying it today, this moment, not in 3 days, or anything like that, I'd rather just pay extra to know I got the damn thing.
I see Ebay as going to the store and instead of picking up your item and checking out, they throw it in a pile and say "if someone else doesn't give us a better price, you will get it in 3 days" |

Sniping is the only way to go - and it's also fair.
If you have placed a bid / snipe at $50, and someone snipes at $30 - you're still going to win. It just eliminates the bullshit before, and keeps the price down. |

Just bid your maximum bid and stop trying to get it for free. The system will let you win for the least amount already. Waiting for the last minute just means you're fuckng cheap and you really don't care if you win the item.

He doesn't.
If things work out his way then the system is great, if he loses then the system sucks. </end logic>

that's what i don't get, if someone is trying to raise the price just to get someone else to pay more, they seriously risk becoming the high bidder. that's why i was asking, guess that's why they didn't answer the question.

Have never bidded on a single item if its not being sold with a buy it now will look elsewhere. Whats the point of waiting 7 days to save probably only a few dollars. Although usually the items people bid on end up just as expensive as those with a bin.

I bid early on most auctions (Rarely last minute). If I see something I want I simply bid the max I would pay for the item and forget about it until the auction is over. The last minute back and forth turns more into a game and you can end up paying more then you wanted for the item just to "beat" the other bidders.
I don't worry about someone trying to run me up to my max out of spite. I am already prepared to pay my max and if they go over they can have the item.

if you bid in the last few seconds doesn't ebay extend the action to let others react?
