Funny, a $500 projector beats a $3k HDTV

So I dug up my 2 year old projector that costed me $500 at the time, and a 2x2 meter screen. The projector displays 800x600 pixels.

And you know what? It beats my $3k 52" HDTV big time. I think I'll just use it as a monitor now because it's pointless for movies.

Highly recommend projectors to movie and TV show fans. And mine is an Acer compact model, I can easily carry it over for business presentations with the handy eee pc.

Agreed - projectors CAN be good, but frankly it sounds like you got a shitty hdtv.

your 800x600 spread out over a huge area is never ever going to be better than blue ray on my 1080p plasma, and that's a fact.

very true.. I have a slightly nicer 720p projector with a 106" fixed wall screen and it plays my blue ray movies awesome

so while you are right projectors are GREAT, you should've spent another $500 to get a better one

projectors are way better, but have to agree, spend some money on them and you will be surprised.

You say that a 500$ PC projector is better than your 52" HDTV... Wow! You're HD TV is probably a fuckin' crap! I'm 110% sure my 46" Panasonic plasma beat the shit out of your projector, trust me on that one!

If you have a good high def cable signal, there's no way an 800 by 600 display will beat a 720p or 1080p picture.

Would never trade my 1024x768 projector for a HD Plasma not only because its a fraction of the cost, but having a pic the size of a huge wall just can't be beaten!

Sure watching a HD plasma is nice, but unless you get one of those massive ones it just doesn't give you that cinema feel you get from a projector.

Guess the common problem is people buy expensive tv's, but forget to have a digital signal, use the best cablesandplugs around, and tryout bluray.

You can buy the bestest equipment, but if the distribution and signal arent getting it on, its gonna look like crap anyway.

my mom has a 52" 1080p sony top of the line and it looks great but my projector is 720p and with HDMI cables and 106" wide screen I'd much rather watch mine over the 1080p 52"
