New 17" MacBook Pro: Glossy or Anti-glare?

I'm looking to get a couple of the new 17" MBP's but can't decide on the glossy or anti-glare screen. We'll be using them for everything from e-mail/web browsing to photo/video editing. I'm leaning toward the anti-glare screens. Anyone have any input on pros/cons one way or the other or is it more of a personal preference issue? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I just got a new MBP with the glossy screen. My last one had the anti glare, and I liked that better. I find myself adjusting the brightness too often on the glossy. With the anti glare I could keep it on the lowest setting and conserve battery life, but no so much with the glossy.

17" of love! It all depends on what you're doing.
If you're going to be designing or any photo manipulation, I say go with anti-glare.
If you're going to be fucking around on the net and/or use it for entertainment I say go with glossy.
But you can't go wrong with either one.
I will get my 17" soon!

Hey I just ordered one too. I got the anti-glare. It should be here next week. I got one of the soft sleeves too as those help keep it from getting scratched up.

Just got the new 17" yesterday delivered with the anti glare. I currently have a new 15" MBP with the glossy and it's horrible. The glossy screens make watching nice, but are terrible to work on.

Alan- you have a link to the softsleeve? My 15" is already scratched up after a few months of use.

glossy looks GREAT, but if you travel with it and use it outside or on the train, etc, go with the anti glare. the 17" pro is slim and light, probably slightly less manageable than the 15" macbook

i have the 17" with anti glare and my biz partner has the 15" glossy one. the colors are a bit brighter on the glossy one, but the reflections are horrible. you can use it as a mirror for shaving and in the sun you don't see shit. i couldn't stand it and i am perfectly happy with the anti glare display
