Here's a big FUCK YOU to the New Orleans Hornets

Quote:
The New Orleans Hornets and Oklahoma City Thunder have completed a deal that sends center Tyson Chandler to the Thunder.
ESPN.com reported early Monday that the Hornets -- who have been looking to move Chandler mostly for financial reasons -- were in talks with the Thunder on a trade that would net the expiring contracts of Smith and Wilcox
They dump a 7' 1", 26 year old shot blocking alley-oop monster in exchange for two expiring contracts when they're 1 game out of 4th place and positioned to make a deep playoff run this year.
Not to mention CP3, David West, and Tyson Chandler are all in their prime and would have been the nucleus of a championship caliber team for years to come.

Fucken idiots....I guess I can wipe my ass with the rest of this year's season tickets.

(I know most of you don't care, but there are alot of sports fans here and I just needed to vent...kthxbai)

I hear ya, I'll feel the same way if the Suns trade Amare because of financial reasons.

I think this was such a bad move. I know clearing salary cap is the new black but people need to chill on it. I saw what the Knicks are doing and no matter how much money they clear up for 2010 I dont see them landing Lebron, or Wade, or Bosh. I bet in 2 years alot of these NBA teams with salary cap room are going to be signing one round wonders for max contracts and the mess is going to start all over again.

Its a bullshit move. Slap in the face to season ticket holders and fans like yourself, and they could have gotten a much better return on a young but experienced 5 who can score, defend and run the floor. If I am CP3, I'm wondering what the fuck is going on with a move like that.

Sorry man- it blows.

On the flip side OKC will be fun to watch in a year or two. A group of Durant, Westbrook, Green and Chandler plus a top 5 pick in this years draft.

Oh yeah....with the Knicks it's ridiculous.

Peter King wrote about it in his column that week.

Quote:
b. Really: In what other sport are the next two seasons rendered totally meaningless for a cornerstone-of-the-league franchise like the New York Knickerbockers?

c. It's everywhere -- on talk radio, on SportsCenter, in columns, endlessly in every New York paper and Web site. I keep reading how smart and prescient the Knicks were for decimating their current team (playing with seven players Friday and Saturday night) and clearing out enough cap space for this great player, LeBron James.

But the NBA already rivals the PSL-charging NFL for ticket-price insanity; if I wanted to sit two levels up from the floor at the foul line in Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night for Knicks-Cavs, I'm paying $244.50 per seat. The Knicks have 75 home games remaining before, presumably, LeBron James or some similar star begins to suit up for them in 2010-11 because of all this cap room they've cleared. And they're asking that fan in the second level up from the floor to pay $36,000 for a pair of seats for those 75 games to see the JV team, a team simply playing out the string 'til Superman arrives.
Tickets aren't as expensive here...and we're not a JV team now....but still. The Hornets made a mint with last year's playoff run and ticket sales this year are way better than they were last year at this time.
I could see them trading Peja or something because he's old...but you don't dump 1/3 of your young talented nucleus for "financial reasons" because I promise you the amount of season ticket holders that are going to bail over this and the playoff revenue you'll miss by getting knocked out in the first round will far exceed whatever you had to pay Chandler next year.

As much as fans in other cities hate guys like Steinbrenner and Jerry Jones....alot of times we wish we had guys like that owning our teams.

Doesn't matter that Chandler was traded, the Hornets were not able to get past the Spurs with him, so they don't need him because they wont be making the western conference finals anyway.

The Hornets are not the same team as they were last year. Paul still plays with the same intensity, but a couple games I've seen this year I've been shocked/disappointed. For whatever reason, they play like someone has taken the wind out of their sails, and it's unfortunate because they are usually a lot of fun to watch.

Chandler could be their Horace Grant / Bill Walton, but he plays like he doesn't give a shit (at least from what I've seen this season).

Don't be surprised if they trade those two players they just picked up to Phoenix for Stoudemire.. Then you will be very happy.

Sounds like you're a Spurs fan.

FWIW, they went 7 games with the Spurs last year, with a really young team. Time was on our side (before this trade) a very old Spurs team vs an up and coming Hornets team.
Smart money would have been on the Hornets this year.

Chandler was injured for alot of games this year. They're 21-10 with him, and 9-9 without him. They could have given him the rest of the year to get healthy and just went in as the 4 or 5 seed.....they'd have been fine.
Maybe even then they couldn't beat the Lakers....but still....you don't break up a young talented team....you break up old talented teams.

Maybe if this is the first step in a 3 way deal it'll turn out well....but from everything I've read this was a cost cutting move so I don't think this scenario will happen.

Teams are doing weird shit lately. The salary cap is decreasing next year so I think teams are preparing for that.

I live in OKC so any good news about the Thunder makes me happy. This first season is going to be a losing season, but next season might be pretty decent.

As a Bulls fan, I think Tyson Chandler blows. That guy never lived up to the hype.

There was a point that I thought the same thing, but I'm pretty happy with the Jermaine O'Neal trade instead. There are times when Pat Riley whiffs (like the Ricky Davis trade), but this was definitely not one of them. The original trade was supposed to be just O'Neal for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks, but instead Riley ass raped the Raptors and got O'Neal, Jamario Moon, a 1st round pick and a $4.5 million trade exception. Riley should have been wearing a ski mask and holding a gun on Bryan Colangelo...

Chandler was not playing as he did last year even before his injuries. I doubt the Hornets will win more games then without him - but they were not going far. Next year they will have some wiggle room. Maybe they try to add Bosh to roster with free money from Chandler and Peja. CP3 is every big mans dream point guard.
