Creating Tables in Wordpress posts - what is the best procedure?

I have a lot of posts I need to publish, the problem is it include tables that are between 4 and 6 cells across.

Anyone know a good safe way of doing that in Wordpress?

There was a Wordpress table plugin that worked for versions up to 2.5
But the owner have discontinued the development, and it dont work anymore

without css, i think the best way it to use notepad, get it all ready and cut and paste to the post.. once you do, you won't be able to edit it in wordpress because it will strip out all the html tags (or some or most) so you have to keep doing it from notepad or an editor.

back when i insisted on using tables and wasn't familiar with css i created templates for my blog posts inside frontpage, saved them, and whenever i needed to do a post i'd put it together in frontpage and just cut/paste the template from the source/code tab...

was easy enough...

You can do this in blogdesk. It has a few different format templates. You can edit them, and save the format.

I was hoping to get rid of HTML <table> tags

What I'm doing now, is with a <div> creating colums, but that is bloody hard to manage when updating the table data later.

That is what i do now (dreamweaver -> copy paste) but the result is posts that arent valid html/xhtml.

I was hoping for some csv import style plugin, or even better, something that can handle a XML feed

you can also create those custom keys. there is a plugin out there, that allows you to post any code in a post. i used it on some hoax sites to create fake credit card forms, registration forms etc

actual mysql tables (or any other DB format)

At the moment, the only working solution for me, is to get a programmer to do it in Flash

The reason I would use Falsh is the fact that Google will soon be able to index the context of flashfiles anyway. (flatfile images will come later according to their lab)

You can do any php code in themes, best to put it in functions.php and call it via that.
