72 GB per second, is this a fast transfer speed?

because I need a reference. watching a documentary that is stating scientist figure the 'eyes' transfers 72 GB of data to the brain per second.

it's an interesting documentary for sure...... watched one about the big bang the other day... they had to recalculate time to try and understand how it all went down. so they made 'plank time' that's 1 billion to the 5th per second, that's damn interesting...

i'm not really uptodate, but a modern hdd does like 60-100 MB per second i think - so 72 gb per second would be quite a lot, yeah

I think you mean "Planck time", which was named after a physicist named Max Planck: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planck_time.

that's a lot of data...
I guess they (eyes) aren't using any compression, then they are sending raw data to the brain

yes thank you Marco. and I got some interesting info on dark matter: they can't figure out what the fuck is going on, so they 'fudge' that math and then say it's dark matter

10GiG is basically what most new routers are looking to do over Ethernet. This is on the very high end and typically for internal traffic only

100Mbit maybe. Your hard drive will never be able to move information off of itself at that speed. What is your router.

the top Cisco Router does 10/100/1000

Which is 10Mbit/100Mbit/1GiG

You have to add a card for 10GiG on a high end core router. Fiber Channel only does 4GB

What is the make/model of your router.

optical vendors are just starting to roll out 100gbps over a single wavelength. Several tbps is common today over dwdm.

The brain is an analog, not digitial, device. It's misleading to describe it in terms of bit (0,1) rates or byte (8 parallel bits) rates.
