Internet Work at Home Scams

I've always wondered, and what better place to ask than a board full of people who make their living via Internet Marketing, about these types of websites:

http://coreyhasmoney.com/

I mean, are they telling the truth that people get paid for posting links to google, or are they frauding people and charging such a low fee that few people complain so they are really making bank on the people who buy the "kits"?

My mom bought into a couple of these things before I found out and explained to her that they are scams. I just didn't have an answer to explain to her how the scam works.

Well obviously, I titled the thread "scams". I'm just wondering how they actually work. How these companies get away with it.

Well they are already lying on the first few lines "I grew up in (your city)". Then of course he's asking for money. There was some news article long ago that said if they are asking for money it's most likely a scam.

They're not a "scam"... Typically the "posting links to google" stuff is about running adword campaigns... So yes, they can make you a lot of money.. but you have to really know what you're doing and find just the right thing to promote in order to do it..Otherwise you just lose money.

I wonder if the "free kit" actually contains any info about making money on google?

One of the ones my mom bought ended up just being a pdf file with a referral code and told her to spam people and make money off of them buying the pdf file from her.

But this one seems to make money off of that hidden $50 charge, which I didn't find when I looked myself and I'm sure most people who purchase the "free" kit don't notice it either. So I wonder if the kit they send actually talks about google at all.

How do these companies not get shut down?

People feel ashamed to fall for scams, so they dont want to look stupid. And, also, new scams are pooping up every 30 seconds of the day. I would guess they have a hard time following up to get them shut down.

Btw, if you want to make money you have to do a website, then you have to write something on a website. Get content on a website. Look around and you could get a blog made, and start bloggings on something you are intrested in. If there is money to be made selling stuff(legit stuff or services), you should start there. I mean, your mother should start there. Unless you like the idea of recruiting people on some over-priced junk,, or MLM system.

Have a good day

These sites are the equivalent of a high school basketball player selling you a lesson video and claiming it'll get you into the NBA.

Good point, they probably don't get all that many complaints. My mom doesn't need anything, she's retired and bored and bought into a couple sales pitches that landed in her email not realizing they were bulk email (y'know, thought they were for her specifically...she's not great with technology). It's unfortunate how many people like her get taken advantage of.

I picked up a magazine to read in the drugstore while waiting for a prescription, and I got such a kick out of it that I bought it to finish while on a plane the next day - it's called "Start Your Own Business - Mail Order Delivers" - and it's about 100 pages of almost nothing but ads for get-rich-quick scams - the ad copy in each ad is funnier than the last.
What's most amazing to me is that this magazine comes out four times a year --- I guess the real money is in selling advertising to scammers

(Yes, there *were* still a few people touting the benefit of placing small classified ads from your apartment )

The thing is that these packages don't really give the buyer the full story. I've got my hands on many of them at no cost before. Typically they go either into MFA strategies or PPC strategies with Adwords. They give you a little information, but nothing that couldn't be found for free, and nothing that gets to the real juice of what it takes o really make money in PPC.

It's hard to really call it a scam, but it is definitely a weak product marketed in an extremely aggressive manner, which is praying on both the current economic state and people's 'get rich quick' dreams. It's next to impossible to refresh a facebook page without one or more of these "google ads" advertisements popping up on screen.

I can tell you this though. If coreyhasmoney.com is actually ran by "corey" i'm willing to bet he has made a good chunk of money off this site.

my personal fave is http://www.cheddasblingblog.com

They're just splogs hawking "Earn Google Cash" or similar Here's another one, note the same stock $5000 check photo used: http://www.nirvanadance.com/. I've seen at least a half-dozen lately, all bouncing to http://www.earncashfastwithgoogle.com/ (warning: annoying audio ad.)

I don't know why they don't get shut down. Perhaps they just skirt the relevant laws?

The "free kit" very possibly does contain a whole bunch of useful info. Whether or not the person who purchases it can do anything with it, is an entirely different question. I've got a webmaster resource site with step-by-step tutorials. I've also personally coached many newbies one-on-one. I have a shitload of webmasters who have signed up under me over the years. Very few of them ever make any sales.

exactly, the products themselves aren't really fraudulent. though they are often thin, or sometimes behind the times, on what they are offering. People are bought in by the offer of huge money with little work, and when they realize that it does in fact take an effort, or they don't understand what is being presented to them, the easiest escape is to brush it off as a scam.

What, I actually have to build websites? I have to do keyword research? I can't just be a lazy idiot and make thousands of dollars? SCAM!

There's also a javascript for fake google stats.

Here's a tip: Any "system" that asks you to PAY to participate is a scam. That said, there's many legit make money online systems where you get paid for actual work (freelance sites, survey sites, etc) Just avoid bullshit ebook and other sites that try to upsell you to a paid membership.

There are a range of 'services' or 'packages' like this. Some are small time chumps trying to squeeze some money out of you, while other big players make a lot of money. Its just like the adult biz. For the most part, they will be telling you information you already know, or could find online.

I joined a legal, MLM that has been in business for about 15 years and will be featured on the apprentice, so I do believe there are legit opportunities out there to be had. This company has weekly meetings, offer you all sorts of training and have GOOD products to sell.

Before you join/buy anything, do your research! A few hours spent could save you a lot of money.
