:mad FUCK NEW YORK: Stripper Tax. Pole Tax. Download Tax. Fancy Clothes Tax. iPod Tax.....

Another day another new scheme to tax the herd. Sure as fuck glad I do not live in New York

Quote:
ALBANY - Call it an un-cover charge.

A Brooklyn assemblyman introduced a bill yesterday that would require patrons to pay the state $10 every time they visit a strip club or topless joint.

Felix Ortiz, a Democrat, said the flesh fee could raise as much as $500 million for victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual abuse and child prostitution.

States have increasingly turned to the adult-entertainment industry to help close budget gaps in recent years.

Texas lawmakers are fighting to save a similar $5 "pole tax," which was struck down as unconstitutional by a state judge.

Gov. Paterson, facing a $14 billion budget deficit, has proposed a tax on Internet downloads that would also apply to Web porn.

"The bottom line is, we have to protect people who have been victimized by unscrupulous individuals, and we cannot continue, especially in this economy, to have government pay for everything," Ortiz said.

Looks like their answer to everything this year is a new tax.
I wonder how long New Yorkers will stand for it.

the funny thing is, once you add up all the taxes and fees and licenses we pay and add it to our average income tax, we pay nearly as much as those social democracies in Europe that have universal health care and put their citizens through college. Fucking ridiculous

They ship girls in from places like eastern europe/eurasia or central/south america and keep them in slave like conditions to work at strip clubs. I know a bunch of girls that had to literally escape.

This year in Toronto we got a new car tax, something like $65 ANNUALLY for EVERY single car on the road. If you have 5 cars, 5 taxes.

Not to mention the recent Land Transfer Tax that milks a few thousand dollars out of each home sale.

Perhaps you'll enjoy the new $300 "green audit" you'll soon need to sell your house.

Or the somewhat recent Drive Clean program that requires everyone with a car older than 10 years to get an emissions test every 2 years.

Or the garbage sticker program, where each house gets a couple bags of garbage per week, and if you happen to produce more garbage, you need to buy stickers from the government to put on each extra bag.

Perhaps you'll also enjoy their idea of clear plastic bags for all garbage, so they can see whose throwing away what - and whose not recycling... So they can.....

Impose a "you don't recycle" ticket on your ass.

Or the new $700 per home electric Smart Meters so they can charge more for daytime use of electricity, and find out whose got grow ops. Funny thing is, the SAME fucking electrical company last year said that people in Toronto were basically were "conserving too well" and now the city wasn't using enough electricity to keep their infrastructure growth in check, and therefore needed to jack the prices way up to compensate.. lol.

Perhaps you'll enjoy that they tax car sales EVERY single time the car is sold too. Car company sells car to dealership (1 tax), dealership sells car (2nd tax), owner sells their now used car (3rd time taxed). etc etc.

You used to be able to sell your car to a family member for example for $1. Now that's illegal. Cars must be sold at Blue Book value or more, or they'll be taxed on the blue book value anyways.

Can someone remind me why we just pay and don't team up as citizens to fight this stuff?

Oh yeah! And now you have to pay I think $0.10 per plastic grocery bag, to keep them out of our landfills......... *VOMIT*

This was not a problem before the state government was $14 billion in the red?

Keeping slaves is illegal. This is just a bullshit justification for a tax the state needs because they are broke.
