what does www2. www3....www16, www17 mean?
when you go to a website and it says www20.domainname.com what does the 20 mean? Does that mean there are 20 servers hosting that site?

it's just a subdomain, but generally yeah.. it's a way to identify differing servers or server clusters.

You are asking 2 questions here, in the title of your thread www2. is a subdomain.
In the body of your thread post you have it as www.20.domainname.com So BOTH www2. & the 20. are simply subdomains. http://forums.macnn.com/89/macnn-lou...-www3-vs-www4/
