They still have a ton of money to find new opportunities and make even more money then before when the recession lifts and everything comes back up.
Prince Alwaleed took a big hit because a he had a ton of money in Citicorp.

That guy's a legend. He had the foresight to invest in Apple when Gil Amelio left and Apple was reeling from Scully's legacy. Steve Jobs came back and Apple never looked back since. Alwaleed bought at the deep end and made money many times over.
