Of those three, I vote Vonage. I'd consider signing up with a good SIP provider though.

MagicJack is actually more reliable and sounds better on both ends then either Skype or Vonage.

Everyone in my office now has a MagicJack to take home with them if need be.

I've been using Skype and everyone I call is telling me how it sounds like I'm right in the room. Get a good headset. But when I call people on my cell now they tell me to call back on Skype because it is so much clearer.

I don't how the fuck it works, that's the magic of it, Jack

Seriously, it's this little USB dongle you plug into your PC and then plug a phone into it. It fires up on it's own, ask you to pick a local phone number and you're off.

I was really surprised at the quality of the calls coming in and going out.

Definitely worth the $40 even for backup purposes.

Also the good thing about magic jack is its $20/year and if you have frends or family outside the USA you can send it to them and if they have highspeed you can talk to them for free as long as you want. They can call anywhere is the USA or Canada and recieve calls to their USA number.

And if you dont want to get ripped off on shipping and handling charges from the informercial, you can buy it at Best Buy or Radio Shack. Its $40, $20 for the magic jack and $20 for the first year.

Once you're signed up, they offer an additional 5 years for $60.

I will never use a telephone service that relies on an internet connection or electricity.

If the power goes out, my internet goes down or my computer gets a virus my cellphone and my regular land line will still work just fine.

I been running everything though Google Voice for a while. I just give out that number and can forward the calls to any line at any time.

They're just transferring existing Grand Central users over to the new system, so I'm not sure it's open to the public just yet.
