no automated script is going to be able to accurately determine the memorability and marketability of a name or phrase. so i take all of their appraisals / estimates with a grain of salt.

I agree with this, no script will ever be of any use to value a domain.

Gary should buy it back now

Ever since I can remember the domain never seemed to have a developed website which mad it unattractive. But I would think in a non-recession era it would fetch between $50 and $100 million dollars. Business .com had sold for $345 million back in 2007. http://www.harry-inc.com/businesscom...or-345-million

A hedge fund manager with a big ego can buy this like a pack of gum...since they were making like a billion dollars a year.

With a tube script and staff to update and moderate the site, it's worth twice as much as it is right now.

I think most of the sale price was toward the actual domain name, not including website content that came with it...

not sure though... just my guess

I would guess it would be worth quite alot, but hey its all about finding a good niche.

I tell you what http://www.quartzrose.co.uk will be worth millions soon. Have you seen the ladies, they are the hottest on the planet.

You can buy 10 penthouses in London when you get rich.

The thing is Jim thats a mainstream domain and as many adult corps have discovered getting the right price for adult industry assets is more difficult.(adult friend finder is a good example)

I also think that the price had a lot to do with its fast growing income and current profits ....

when sex.com was sold it had $7.5m a year in revenue and over a $1m in net profit.
Its no where close to those #s now... In its current form is making maybe a $1m a year in gross revenue.

As far as the website making money or not...is a secondary issue, it is more about being the owner of SEX.COM a super domain name. Very wealthy people just want to own, they own tons of stuff they never use...but makes them feel good. It is a power thing and can make them feel more important to others, etc. They want the best Art, homes, cars, jewlery, yachts, clothes, collectables, etc.

I am sure if they really wanted to make $$$ they can with this domain...and can afford to hire the best webmasters on gfy.

sex.com is a nice, but the owners are too lazy to make something good from it. They are good to poop on.
If I were a billionair I would buy sex.com instead of a painting hehe, just to put a pic of a monkey on the frontpage and nothing else.
