I want to turn a computer into a web server
...specifically one that will execute cgi script. Is there software that will accomplish this on Windows XP Pro?

I'm pretty sure that xp pro has a server built in. I know that win2kpro does.

Look for a linux, apache, php and mysql (LAMP). Firstly try ubuntu desktop, everything can be run there. Aftewards you'll see that you don't need the Desktop GUI so you'll remove it. That's the way if you mean it seriously.
