$ 29.99, £ 29.99 and 29.99 Euro

What is it with companies that charge the same amount in numbers but not the same currency?

Depending on the current rate of course some users do pay a substantial amount more!

Just took a look via different IPs and the results are pretty crazy!

Why fuck over the customers like that? The £ amount could get me almost twice the $ amount...wtf?

how much does a gallon of milk cost? Regional billing may seem unfair but I think if you average the value of the currency to salaries paid, cost of living based on the average salary etc. it evens out.
Regional billing is still making me more but not nearly as much as it was 4 months ago.

Referred to as Regional Pricing in CCBill

It's "opt in" (I never activated it.)

There are a few good threads on here about it.

However it's a confusing subject for most.

These are CCBill's recommended pricing and you can see the additional revenue generated in dollars by using them.

Regions Recommended Ratio Final Price Point Additional Realized Revenue (USD)
United States
1 $19.95 $0.00
U.K.
0.7550000 £15.06 $1.63
Japan
111.0000000 ¥2214 $1.39
Europe
1.0000000 €19.95 $5.31
Canada
1.3700000 $27.33 $2.12
Australia
1.5600000 $31.12 $1.85

Take the Euro as an example

it is used in 16 EU countries ranging from germany to slovakia

that sure does not compute with living standards in all countries

NO?

It's based on averages... There a many, many examples where the price would not be fair... i.e. someone in europe getting paid american dollars, area where salary is lower, etc. etc. but on average it is fair.

My buddy opened a brewery in mexico... buys all his hops, barley, etc. in the states. He makes his money from the peso and the us/mx rate is about 1/13 right now. Used to be closer to 1/10... his overhead increased 30% and was closer to 50% a few months back. Point is it sucks for him...

Nothing is always going to be fair but on the average regional billing is.

ok I see your point but your example has only limited variables

buying a membership that costs $29.99 from the UK at £ 29.99 just makes no sense
