Transfering Video from Sony Z5E to Adobe Premier Pro 2

Ok I been shooting HD video for a while now... well 2 months ish... I finally decided to grab some of the video off the tapes and put them onto the computer (see how they look ect)...

I am shooting with a Sony Z5E... and use Adobe Premier Pro 2 to grab the video... I have played with the settings both on the camera and the premier pro... and not sure if I got it working right

One thing that stands out is the "Scene Detect" box which usually allows you to tick it, but it's greyed out This means when it does grab the video it does so as one big file... and not the individual scenes

Also it comes up with "No Device Control" and whilst it's grabbing the video instead of displaying what it's grabbing it just as a black screen with "Capturing" on it... guess that aint too bad a thing lol

I just grabbed the first hour of video... it was only 10 gig in size which seemed a big small for a whole hour of video... it saved it in MPEG format...

Anything sounds good bad or ugly ??? Help please...

At the moment I want to try and stay with Premier... just need to work out why it's not letting me tick the "Detect Scenes" box

did you try the Adobe Support
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/search/...ct=premierepro

Or the community help on the Adobe site?
http://community.adobe.com/help/sear...r=en_us&area=0

That's where I would start if you haven't already.

Instead of using Adobe to capture from camera, I use Split HDV.

Its a freeware program that has scene detection and has a small footprint. It makes .m2t files that you can drop into your timelime in Premier.
