Not sure, I think it would make an incredible ending if she did indeed die, like in the first go-around when his wife died. It would make him that much more of a tragic figure. Maybe, they are able to keep her alive on life-support and use whatever it is they need from her to save Jack's life but she still dies.
Not trying to be morbid. Just trying to think of an incredible ending.

I agree with the keep her alive to save Jack plot theory. I think that can be seen from a mile away.
They may toss in a twist though. Who knows.
