Anti-energy beverage Drank - "Slow your roll" - anyone 'drank' this before?

I guess after all your 5 hour energies, monsters, and red bulls, you're supposed to take this to get to sleep? lol, pretty weird.

"Downer" Drink Copycats Illegal Beverage
Watch Video

A new beverage claiming to be the opposite of an energy drink is raising eyebrows because it is modeled after an illegal drink.

The makers of Drank say it helps people relax -- legally.

"When you drink a can of this beverage, at first, a couple people (say), 'I don't feel anything,'" Drank distributor Karl Enriquez said. "Then after a little while, (they say), 'I feel relaxed.'"

Dubbed the "anti-energy drink," Drank is made with valerian root, melatonin and rose hips.

It is modeled after an illegal cocktail called syrup, which is made with prescription cough syrup and Sprite.

"What we aspire to do with Drank is provide a substitute for such an illicit substance," Enriquez said.

A licensed dietician said the ingredients aren't harmful, but no studies have been done on their long-term effects.

Cathy Carter said Drank sells out quickly at her Garland shop Blue Phoenix.

"We can't keep it in stock," she said. "We have to have deliveries every week."

Enriquez said the beverage is Food and Drug Administration-approved, and all of Drank's contents are legal.

"If the Food and Drug Administration is saying it's OK, I would respect their authority," one woman said.

But another person said he wasn't so sure about the drink.

"I just think it sends the wrong message when you're trying to copycat an illegal product," he said.

Couple thoughts. I get the herb usage and how it can make you tired. I do not agree with the whole "if the FDA says it's OK" line. I also do not get the copycat remark as I would of never known about the "illegal" drink made from other shit line if they didnt talk about it. Honestly if kids want to get "down" they just raid the parents medicine cabinet or have their own prescribed crap.

So now we have 'legal' uppers and downers... though I don't see those ingredients doing shit.

John "Bradshaw" Layfield, the WWE wrestler that just recently retired, owns the company that makes and markets this stuff (Layfield Energy). You have to order it online if you want to get it outside of the states of Kentucky, Tennessee, and a few others, but I tried it not too long ago and I thought it tasted like shit. Then again, most energy drinks besides Red Bull taste like shit to me...

Uppers and downers, uppers and downers. It's like drinking coffee and then taking sleeping pills. I doubt it's healthy.

Are you serious? Fucking Bradshaw, a super-conservative, creates an anti-energy drink based on sippin' on some sizzurp? So we're selling codeine-esque drinks to kids now? How fun.

I take melatonin to help me sleep when I have to get up super early the next day and it does knock you out.

The part about this product that I found problematic was the tagline: "Slow your roll." That's totally a drug reference.
