Swine flu (Mexican flu) outbreak Thailand

Phuket closing bars for 5 days to avoid spreading.

Shit's spreading like a crazy here in Pattaya too. 3-4 Days ago 2 Taiwanese student tourists spreaded the disease at here. Mouthcaps are popping up more every day now. Yesterday I went inside a Booths drugstore and the employees at there were all wearing these green mouthcaps. I aint seeing any Agogo for a while now

Having that said, is it true that the fatality percentage is the same of that of normal influenza? As in only weak people (elderly) die from complications?

The body has a more difficult time fighting this one off. Unlike the regular flu N1H1 has more animal properties to it rather than human flu props so its more resistant to our body's immune response and treatment.

The normal flu kills tons every year. usually from dehydration and lack of medical attention when it gets real bad. Yes they are normally the unhealthy.

When people laugh off the N1H1 virus and say its all "media hype" and pull out the statistics that the "normal flu" kills X number every year and laugh off the number of people who get and die from N1H1 its disturbing.

The normal flu kills so many every year because it is so wide spread. Sure its killed and kills a number or stat higher than that of the N1H1. But keep in mind N1H1 is just at its start here. Given the chance to spread like the regular flu and it the number of deaths will make the normal flu look like nothing.

The pressure that has been put on the World Health Organizations to keep quiet is also disturbing. Governments trying to put a lid on the "hype" is what is really going on in fear that it will hurt the economy with panics.

The health organizations and media need to do their job and educate people not scare them about its transmission and how to protect themselves.

When Obama made the statement "wash your hands" people were pissed or criticized him for saying that. Expecting the president to do more. Like deliver vaccines to people personally or some shit.. But in all reality that is the best advice anyone could give and the best thing anyone could do for themself as an indvidual trying to protect from this.. The best thing that can be done to prevent its transmission and getting this is HANDWASHING.

If people became educated in the importance of handwashing epidemics like these could really be contained.

The whole wearing masks thing is silly. Unless someone is already infected there is no need to wear a mask. A mask would only be good to stop an infected person from spreading it. Handwashing and not masks will prevent this virus from spreading.

Just like the normal flu this virus is spread via droplet. Think of it as "wet paint."

When someone infected sneezes, coughs, touches their ass, droplets or wet paint if you will comes out of them. Its on their hands, on their body. They touch things like door knobs, counters, handshaking, that wet paint gets on those items. Someone else like you comes along and touches it.. Now its on your hands. The wet paint is on you.

But the virus cant penetrate your skin. The only way you can get infected is if you somehow get that wet paint into your body. If that wet paint is on your hands and you wipe your eye for example thats one way. If you eat something and that wet paint gets on your food and you ingest it, you will get it. The virus has to get into your body somehow. Typically the eyes, nose, mouth, anus, or cracks-broken open wounds on the skin are how. The Virus has to find a way into your body. Most the time it is you infecting yourself with your very own dirty hands.

Yes, If you have close contact with someone who is infected and they sneeze into the air or on you can get it if the droplets get into your system. Or they cough direct on your face. Remember its a droplet. Invisible wet paint and its everywhere. But its generally you the individual that is the vector that gets it into your body. Usually by not washing your hands and somehow getting the droplets into your body.

Again simple handwashing can eliminate anything from the common cold, flu, N1H1, and many other sick shit from spreading.

Keep that in mind.

Wow. I feel like the old me. LOL.
Before I went to the dark side and did porn I was in healthcare.

I went to school for 7 years studying this shit. Got my masters degree in public health was going to go to Cornell and get my PHD.

That is until I discovered the $$ in porn and it stopped me from perusing that.

Maybe the world is calling boneprone back! To come save the world!

Or at least just the people at GFY.

3rd world countries and places where hand washing is not a part of daily life will be the most affected.

Unfortunately for them and many in the world vaccines may be the best hope but they will NEVER get them.
Instead the vaccines will go to people in a panic in the industrial nations who do need it as well but could do a part in stopping its spread by handwashing.

The real epidemic will be in poor, unindustrialized countries that no one gives a damn about.

Its sad but the truth.

Many countries and people in the world cant handwash because the water they have access to is dirty.
I fear what any epidemic or pandemic may do to them.

Us in the US or other industrial nations really have nothing to fear. But when pandemics like this hit its disturbing to think what will happen to the poor people in poor countries around the globe.

Thats where the real issue will be.

Yeah the wife is a pharmacist she knows all about drugs.
But public health is my gig....

Im the guy who used to study disease, how it spreads, and how to prevent.

Her job is how to treat once they are already have shit. Mine was to prevent it from happening in the first place.

Two diff schools of thought really.
Preventive Medicine is the best way to handle things. Before shit blows up in your face.

Right, but it's not getting worse, its getting BETTER. The latest cases are very mild and many people catching it in Thailand are shaking it in TWO DAYS WITH NO MEDS!!! The N1H1 virus is very weak but it does transmit easily from person to person. It has grown even weaker in Asia.

More people will die today in the world from malaria, dengue fever and dirty drinking water than Swine Flu, which I may add will kill probably nobody today. Yet, none of the others gets any press at all.

In Asia they say they fear it mixing with Avian Flu. There are currently no cases of Avian Flu, and though I'm just a simple pornographer, common sense tells me you need the presence of this other virus in order for it to mix with this one.

All of this mixed with the fact that it is hardly killing anyone and people are quickly recovering from it, it just doesn't add up.

I'm calling Media Hype. It takes everyones mind of the current economic problems and keeps them from traveling or going out much, thus realizing they are broke. It's all smoke and mirrors, just like the last outbreak of Swine Flu was.

* I was in Thailand during the height of their HIV crisis. I did not get HIV and I was raw dogging girls left and right.
* I was in Asia during SARS and though I did have a scare, I did not catch SARS.
* I was in Asia during Bird Flu and did not catch Bird Flu.

So now it's Swine Flu. WHEN and IF this mutates and starts killing mass people, then I will worry. Until then, I'm more concerned getting flattened on my bike while driving on these crazy roads.

M.E.D.I.A. H.Y.P.E.

With that said, yes, im sure there is no need to panic and none of you will die of this N1H1.

But thats not to say its not going to be a problem. It has the potential to be horrible. There should be no excuse for any of us in the industrualized nations to die from this. From handwashing to vaccines to healthcare access. We will be fine. So long as you stay educated and take it serious there is no need to panic or think you will die of this.

Sadly this cant be said for many or most of the poor people in this world.

It's going down right now and nothing is happening. Yes, it's spreading, but it's a weak virus. Unless that changes, and it may, I don't see what the hype is about.

If they prepare NOW for when or if it gets worse, then they should be on top of it.

DWB,

I agree, I dont think it will become a problem.... The sick and elderly will be the most affected.... Poor people in poor countries. But keep in mind the regular flu kills tons every year. If this does get as big as that it will pose a problem. And thats what health organizations really want to prevent. They want to prevent Its spread to that mass level because it is more difficult to treat than the regular flu at this time especially in the kind of people who are normally affected by flu..

Will this be the end of man kind like the media pitches it to be and the fear you see from some people? No.......

But can this be a problem if people ignore it? Potentially yes.
The media really should talk about simple things like handwashing. But its not glorified enough as showing someone panicing in a mask. Im with ya dirty white boy. We arent that much in disagreement about the media hype.

I know doctors offices are getting calls llike crazy for tamaflu and vaccines for the swine flu.
Its pissing them off. My wife and her pharmacy has soccer moms in panics wanting that shit. Its ridiculous.
Hey people how bout washing your fucking hands?

Dirty White Boy, you've been dodging bullets it seems though. Thats good for you mang.
But be careful of things like AIDS. The problems are very real. And I think the media has been lacking in its coverage and exposure of it. Places like Africa and India its a real issue.

Its places like these that the swine flus and such will have the greatest impacts.
But no one cares.

The good thing about all this however is that it will be cheaper to travel!

When I booked my hotels for our Disneyland trip I was sure to do it right at the peak of the swine flu hype. It was too good to be true.

We stayed at some really fucking nice hotels in Beverly Hills, Suites that were normally 600-800 a night for 280 a night!

300 a night hotels were 99 bucks...

It was great!

Vacation packages to Mexico were the lowest i had ever seen!

I remember back during Y2k, the Millennium hotel packages in Vegas were around 2k!!!
After all the hype and bomb scares we drove down and I shit you not got 120.00 a night for excellent hotels in the panic. They were 2k a night just the week before! Shit you not.

So yes media hype is out there. It does suck. But it does have its advantages.

If one were smart right now you would be selling masks on ebay!
I bet it sells better than hand santizer.

Have fun with that.. My son just got over it and it was nasty.. It's in all the schools in my area, pretty much and over 80% of the people who have it are school-age children.

Truthfully, If you live in a country that has proper medical and clean running water I really dont think its a life or death panic situation in general. Yes its a nasty virus and yes people are dying of it. Its horrible.

But in general If you are a poor person with no access to medical, access to safe ways to rehydrate or education as to how to handle this it could be very very dangerous. Thats where most death tolls will occur when this pandemic gets out of control.

Thats how a potential pandemic will really wipe out a population.

Spread of AIDS in Africa and India is an example of this in play..

One of these days a horrible virus will come through and wipe out a huge sector of the population. Is swine flu that virus? Probably not. But we can treat it as such. And learn from it.

It will be intresting to see how this pandemic plays out and who is affected from it most if this indeed gets as bad as is feared.

Is the average GFYer going to die? Is it going to be as bad as the media makes it out to be? Probably not.

But is this to be taken serious from a public health perspective, yes. Very much so.

The regular Thai flu season is about to start. The scientists are fearful that the 2 could mix and mutate to produce an altogether more dangerous strain.
