Not to give anyone the impression that he has passed, he hasn't. In fact, we just got off the phone together.We are just very far away from each other.

I dont really have the cash to jump on the next flight, honestly I would if I did. But for some reason I really have to say, I miss my father.

So if you are so lucky as to see your father today, give that guy a hug and tell him you love him.

Cause doing it on the phone really fucking sucks.

And happy fathers day to all you GFY dads.

d-null, I also speak to my dad just about every day. I echo your "special day" feeling, You dont (or shouldn't) really need one. It's just been a real shitty few months for me, and I really miss him, not just today.

I think i'm going home. It's been a very long time.

Yeah man, it really sucks... This is my 5th father's day without my dad and it sucks really really bad... Much like Phaseman said, I took my dad for granted too, and what really sucks is he died not to long after his birthday, and I kind of blew him off after his birthday saying I had to work...

I miss my father every day, and today is just even worse for the fact that I can't call him up and say hello or anything like that anymore...

When I was younger (im 31) I left home and just never came back. My parents were the all-american mom and dad, dinner every night at the table, family time on the weekends. When I got into the late teens, 16-17, I really grew away from them and for what they stood for. I started smoking weed, going to NORML conventions and was pretty much out of control. I haven't seen either of my parents in years. We talk all the time, but its been years. And I have no strings here anymore. Some friends, but... Ex hates me, I hate the house, neighborhood sucks, sold out in construction to my partners.

Its almost amazing how in the last two months I've gone from "this is my home" to "i want to go home", but this has been building up. It's time for me to go home.

You guys, I feel for you. I feel almost ignorant for the thread. I guess I just got what I needed though. Thank you.

I feel ya. I lost my Dad September 7th, 2007. We never had much of a relationship when I was growing up. We talked maybe 2 times a year until I moved near him and started having kids. We became close and talked often starting around 2004. Looking back now, I wish I would have made more of an effort. The cliche "Don't Know What You've Got Till It's Gone" sure rings true to me. Cherish every moment, as it may be the last.

My Father passed in 2005. Losing a parent is a rough experience. I had actually moved him in with me when he started to go downhill in 2000. In those 5 years we talked more and learned more about each other than the previous 29 years. Even though he was sick and not mentally at 100% we were able to heal a lot of our past and I feel blessed to have been at his beside holding his hand while I told him it was ok to let go. He passed about 1 minute later. Life is something else.

RIP Dad...
