People that have switched to Mac - HTF do you cope without Maximize!

Interested to know how PC -> Mac switchers manage to cope without a maximize button.

So you just drag the windows around manually all the time?

Lack of maximize is a show stopper for me.

No the fuck it isn't!

The green button - (quote from APPLE) "The green circle increases the window's size to a footprint that is best for viewing"

"Footprint that is best for viewing" - That is up to whoever writes the software - not you! You'll note the green button enlarges the program to all different sizes depending on the application.

Even in those apps that have coded it to make the application as large as it can, it's still not as good as a full maximize. Unfortunately, the apps that do try and maximze the windo are in the minority.

SO the question still stands and I am waiting for answers!

<--- go to 4:49 and hear the mac dewd admit they are maximize-less!

Don't get me wrong I love macs - I have two - but I just can't move to MacOS - I run windows 7 on them. Lack of MAX and general pain in windows control is the show stopper.

If that's your only issue, that's not major.

I just can't get used to them myself even though I own a few, lol.

The designers that do DTP for me seem to like them. I think I have the only PC in the company (besides the servers)

" Because it is a simple matter for a OS X user to increase the width of their browser on a case by case basis there is never a need to stretch to full screen. The button that most Windows people assume will expand a window to full screen instead, in OS X, expands or contracts to the documents dimensions. In the case of a browser it expands and contracts to the width of the web page.

In windows, there is no easy way to contract a window view. So, rather than jumping back and forth between window sizes a Windows person would just go full screen and stay there."

But if you feel you really DO want that maximize button back http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...howtopic=26669

just manually resize window to fit your screen. It'll remember it for later... what's so big deal about it anyway?!

That'd be fucking awesome to maximize something to the full size of the document, only

Yeah that's another thing that shits me - on Windows - you can resize a window so easily by dragging anywhere on any side of it! On mac - you have to find the little bottom right hand corner handle which is like 20x20px and drag ONLY THAT!

So mac windows are Definitely easy to resize.

The maximize button doesn't bother me too much, although I sometimes lose the window when I accidentally click it twice and then have to dig for a tiny box through all my screens to maximize it back. My real problem is working on a mac all day and then trying to type on my pc keyboard when I get home. Now I would love to see a fix for that one!

Uh, what? That's just plain wrong. You can do that with one click.

The only problem I had was the difference in the cmd and ctrl placement between mac and pc, any other issues I had due to macs small keyboard size I fixed by buying a full size USB keyboard for the mac, most any will work.

But I agree with the maximize thing it would be nice to have a maximize that maximized to full screen, though I don't use it a lot on a 27" screen, I use it enough to wish it worked that way.
