Need A New Nikon Body

I am out of the loop with the recent models coming to market. I am looking for a body suitable to shoot mainstream stock. I don't want to invest in a D3 or anything like that right now. So anyone who is shooting Nikons what would you recommend? D300, D90, D5000?

I know the models are all over the board but I am looking for some hands on opinions. Personal reviews are often the best place to start with digital.

Thanks

I have both the D300 and the 700, some days I prefer the 300 over the 700

Thanks JFK. Do you know if the D300 & D90 are comparable at all or should I just stick with the D300/D700? Chip wise etc. I'm more concerned with results as opposed to consumer specs.

I've got a d60 I'm absolutely in love with. Great camera in a very compact body.

The D300 is a lot faster, The 700 is a full frame camera, great quality shots and is good in low light. I didnt want to spend the money on the D3 , thats why I went with the 700.

I had some fun with the D90 but how good it actually is, I'm not sure. I've always been into Canon.

Has anyone shopped at Adorama? I know they have been around in NYC for years but I never bought from them. I usually do my photo/video shopping at B & H.

Just doing a little online price comparisons.

Thanks for all the responses so far. I really do appreciate every post.

I would love to see what the video quality of the 90 is.

have 2 d70s and will upgrade to the D90 (lighter for field work and has video) or the 300 (Built tougher and better in low light).

Adorama is fine but I prefer B&H.

I always call in my BH orders, usually to Mike... he can work some magic with numbers.

I'm using the D90 ... and I love it... I'm not a professional photographer, but I can say the pictures are amazing even for a armature photographer

about the Video - It's almost Just a gimmick - I mean the Picture is GREAT, it's HD and it's realy good, but with no AF, so it's gets out of focus if you move it around

this is my recommendation also.. look for a good used d2x, it is a freaking workhorse and easy to use, great control and very good feel in your hands (i have bigger hands).

I want to use it more for landscape and interior "pans" for the videos aspect as well as so nature shot where I will be with tripod. Figured I set the aperture to f22 or above and use my wide angles in hyperfocus.

If you have any unedited/altered/compressed video I would love a link to a sample of what comes out of the camera. If the video is acceptable it could keep me from having to lug around yet another camera.

The d70s are great. Looking to convert 1 to infrared and I bet I could pick up a dirt cheap underwater housing.

Adorama is good. I shop there when B&H is out of stock and I don't want to wait. Otherwise, B&H will either match or beat their prices.

BTW, what are you willing to pay for a D3? I have a D3 and was thinking of upgrading to the D3x.
