[HELP] Places to stay, and things to do in LA??

Hey guys,

I'm planning a little vacation to the US west coast (LA, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley).

Anyway, I was thinking of staying in LA for 4 days.

Could you guys recommend me which region it would be best for me to stay, considering that I'm hitting all the tourist spots, like Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Hollywood??

And what would you guys recommend I visit during these 4 days also, not only places but restaurants, malls, and such??

Thanks!!

how much you want to spend?

Disneyland is a must see if you haven't before, but that is a long drive from LA over in Anaheim, check out the beach near there too, Newport or Huntington, there is a good mall in Santa Ana I think that is close to there too, and Knotts Berry Farm is minutes from Disneyland too, and there is horse racing at Los Alamitos close to disneyland too if you are into doing some gambling...... lots of restaurants everywhere, the mexican food is great and cheap. you could also go the other way and check out Magic Mountain but that neighborhood is a little rougher and a bit of a drive too

I was thinking of spending around $80-$100 per night at the Hotel. I've already found some nice options such as Embassy Suites, in Brea North Orange County, and even a HoJo in Reseda. But I do not know if those nieghborhoods are far away from the turist attractions (such as Hollywood walk of fame, Beverly Hills, etc).

Which area would you suggest I stay at?

I've been to Disney many times before, and won't be going this time. Also, I'll wait until I get to Las Vegas to gamble, so the horse racings are out.

Another thing, this trip will be around the New Year, so I probably won't spend much time at the beaches.

Any other suggestions?

Okay, number one, you are not going to want to stay in the OC and Reseda is 17 miles from Hollywood. But if your budget is $100/night I suspect that will be as close as you will get. Universal Studios is close(r).

You renting a car? Like museums?

Yep, I'll be renting a car.

The truth is, this stop at LA will not be the main reason I'm visiting the US, I'm going to stay for 3 days in LA only.

I plan on spending more on Las Vegas, since I'll be there from December 29 until January 3rd. I've already booked an amazing suite on the Mandalay.

I'll also be going to San Francisco, Napa Valley and Lake Tahoe after that.

But all these places I've pretty much got everything covered. Just LA seems to be the place where I don't know where I should stay (which neighborhood), and what I should do while I was there!!

Any more tips??

The closer you can get to Hollywood/Beverly Hills, the better imo. Breakfast at the polo lounge is fun and good place to see stars. Clubbing in Hollywood. Venice beach for an afternoon regardless of time of the year. Groman's Chinese theatre. Rodeo drive. I guess those are my must do's.

There are a lot of black and hispanic (hot ones) on Sepulveda near the Sherman Way cross street. Tell them all, Daddy DWB says Heeeey and I miss them.

I would stay around the Hollywood area, it's a central area, just a hop skip and a jump from most places.

I can't see getting a hotel in Reseda. Of course, I also disagree with slapass as I would stay closer to the beach than to Hollywood and hardly feel Rodeo Drive is a "must do."

I ended up booking the Hyatt Andaz in West Hollywood.

I'll be staying there from December 26-29. After that, it's straight to Vegas for the New Years Eve!

I'm still taking suggestions on what to do, and where to eat though. And yes, I'm renting a car

Tranza, there is a place on Magnolia Boulevard in North Hollywood called NoHo's Royal Garden, it is an open air place where the squirrels come up and eat out of your hand, or did, they say the animals(exotic birds, squirrels etc) are gone now.

I ate lunch there when I was out there a couple years ago, the food was excellent then and ppl are saying it is under new ownership now and the food is even better now. Try the persian ice cream...

Here's there website http://nohosroyalgarden.com/
