I did have two dogs but had to put one of them down now my remaining dog

...who had the other dog as a companion since it was a very small pup is showing signs of distress. My remaining dog is a Jack Russell...and anyone that has owned a Jack Russell is aware that they are a special breed. My question is this...if I get another dog...will my Jack Russell easily accept it as a replacement of its long time companion...or will it just ignore it...or maybe...worse dislike it.

Any Jack Russell owners out there that have had a similar experience...if so...input please.

dog are like people some yes some no. When CJ was put down, I really lost my shit. I came home and gave everything that was his to a pet charity. I figured the other two never liked him.I was wrong one didnt eat for 3 days and the other mooped around the house. Then I read I should of let left his stuff around the house for a week for them to adjust. Dogs are very adaptive creatures so your dog will be fine.

I don't know the answer to this but I really hope the Jack Russell logs in and starts posting as the dead dog.

Try doing some different things with your dog. Walk him in different areas. Take him into one of the mega pet stores, let him loose in a dog park ..... Just spend more time with him.

Just pretend the new dog is the dead dog. Name him the same and everything.
Kinda like the opposite of what you're doing now, pathfinder.

I hate Jack Russells... viscous little bastards.

How are YOU doing with the loss of your pet? Dogs pick up on their owners emotions too. They know that something is wrong, not just with the other dog being gone, but how you are acting too. They are not fond of change, they like their routine and all that goes with it. I do not have a Jack, but dogs are 'pack' animals, make sure that things go on as they would otherwise, either with or without another dog.

jack russells are cool

as someone else said though, all dogs are individuals, I've known one that made friends with any dog she would meet, and another jack that was aggressive toward any other dog.... generally though I think having a friend for her is a good idea

If the dog has any sense at all it will run as fast as it can. Kind of like the American Millitary from Vietnam.
