Calling it now, Right wing will flip flop on climate change

After years of denyal their attempts to make climate change some Al Gore conspiracy to get rich is slowly coming to a stand still. Much like the Relgious right reinvents it's creationism bullshit every few years, the right will finally give in on its quest to deny man made global warming..

The simple fact is they can't keep denying science and big money will slowly dry up if they continue on with the crazy train. I'm betting by the 2016 elections they will have flip flopped on global warming and will be trying to rewrite history by claiming they were never really aginst it..

Calling it now..

Climate change isn't up for discussion. The climate changes, we know this; We teach this at the grade school level.

We don't see to accept this, but we currently in an ice age. (Ice age - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) It's going to get warmer and the only thing we can do is adapt.

you obviously would prefer continuing arguing about it instead of allowing the group you are arguing with to agree with you and start working with them on curbing more pollution.

thanks Obama!

this thread truly highlights the liberal's agenda. it's not about curbing pollution, it's about winning a political argument.

there is absolutely zero sense in trying to insult someone because of their being older. it's the epitome of ridiculous logic that defies natural reality.

Jeez you too are so quick to jump on the angry bandwagon. I simply said that he obviously was older than the guy in the picture. Now if you are insecure in your 'older" age L-Pink I'm sorry to have rubbed you the wrong way..

and Dyna.. Do you think L-Pink is too old to take care of himself? I don't think he's reached the age of needing a cub scout to walk him across the street..

Maybe they are just old enough to remember a mere few decades ago when the big fear was that we were entering into a new ice age and life on earth was doomed... then there was the hole in the ozone layer and life on earth was doomed... then there was....

I won't take that bet because I know you will win it. I knew politicians flip-flopped all the time but I never saw anyone flip so much flop like Mitt Romney. Even worse, he got a pass on it just about every time. Stunning.

Who can possibly deny we are changing our planet? We can blow the entire planet up and kill everyone with 1 bomb. However, somehow it is impossible for us to damage our planet in other ways...lol

The lack of critical thinking in some people is astounding. Why do you not believe the countless scientists and people who have given their lives to educating people, who are warning us about this? You really think they care about getting more money? They are in on some money grab conspiracy? What the fuck.

9/11 was a conspiracy. Global warming...Man made global warming is slapping you in the ass. How is the water doing over there in California? You can dry up a whole state..but you still can't affect the climate or anything.

Was anyone aware that the Senate's chairman of The Environment and Public Works Committee is this idiot?

His largest campaign donations (over half a million dollars) come from...guess who. Oil and gas industry. What does that tell you about what he believes in? We're so fucked with narrow minded old farts like this shit stain running our government.

if you are asking me, the latest from California is this winter's snow pack was 5%, the worst on record since 1950. the governor has implemented stricter rules over public water rights, and launching campaigns to get people to convert their grass lawns to proper flora and fauna indigenous to this desert. According to what i've read but haven't sorted out is agriculture (which uses ~85% of all the water in the state) is maxed out on their restrictions, the term is they can't not get any less water from the state and feds, nevertheless, they are getting water from somewhere, haven't figured that part out.

anyway, it's not enough. But i can tell you this, i'm doing my part to conserve, both energy and my pollution footprint. I also volunteer at the beach and clean up trash 1 a month, basically, i've become a lifestyle conservationist. including water, 2 of us use less than 150 gallons of water a month. that is a hard act. regardless of my not liking how the politicization of the science of it all distorts the issue and stalls action on a government level, i still do my part. i bitch about the politicization of it here because i flip out over the "science is settled" fallacy. that's scary shit.

I just find it extremely fucking ironic that pretty much everyone whom gets money from oil & gas are almost always non believers of global warming. Almost always Republicans as Republicans get roughly 80% of the money oil and gas gives to campaigns.

Meanwhile the most common argument from the right as to why they don't believe in Global warming is because they think it's a big money scam..

It's like umm hello..

I think you tend to put too much weight on the science is settled. Yes it's a bad terminology much like Global Warming is bad terminology. ie Scientist aren't very good PR agents so sue them..

They aren't saying there isn't a possibility that there is not some magic unicorn in the sky farting and heating up the Earth.. What they are saying is all the evidence points to excess CO2 gases (ie greenhouse gasses) and it's almost certain man is to blame for that excess CO2 gas.

The likelihood that it's not the cause of man due to our pollution output, is a extremely narrow chance. That's what they say when they say the science is settled. That it's pretty much 90% certain..

Yes we can argue that hey there is a 10% chance it's something else but that chance is so small that we need to act upon what we believe is true if we expect to have a difference.

Now lets just put that into perspective of what you said you do.. You say you help clean the beach.. Now you know very well that by doing this you have an effect on keeping that beach clean. You may not know where the trash comes from but you know that if you don't pick up that trash, it will keep growing and growing.

Now lets say that trash is CO2. We may not know where "all" of the excess CO2 is coming from, but we do know where a lot of it is coming from. This means we can have an effect by reducing human CO2 output and cleaning up the beach by not allowing the trash to get dumped in the first place..

I'm commenting on what their current party line is now, not that it wont change as I predict. The simple fact is the GOP has run amok with the loonies and it's getting so bad they are becoming a joke. While big oil is a major political donor, they aren't all of the GOP's money.. This other money will not want to continue to be seen as supporting crazy lunatics. Specially when the GOP can't even seem to get their loonies to all work together.

Not to mention it's not just pressure here in the US but it's coming from the rest of the world as well. Green energy/less pollution is the future and the US is falling behind mostly due to the right wing trying to keep us on dirty coal and oil.

It's just like immigration.. Remember that wall they bitched and moaned about non stop? Republicans now have the house & the senate where is their wall? Oh opps they forgot about it right? Why because it was just something to get their base all pissed off about. Just like being anti Global warming. They can point to Al Gore as a tree huger make fun and by being anti that it gets their base supporting them. They will just replace global warming with some new "niche" which they can get their base all pissed off about to show up at the polls..

Just like they seem to have forgotten about repelling Obama care since they took office.. Global warming denial will be downplayed and they will "forget" about it in the coming years, My bet will be starting this next election cycle.

The fact is angry conservatives vote more than happy liberals, hence the reason the GOP always has to have something to be outraged about to rile up their masses. Global Warming denial has run it's course and it's becoming too hard to deny, so they will stop talking about it and move on to the next thing, just like they forgot about their wall and obamacare..

Last week the Gov of Cali said that the CA drought is PROOF of climate change.....

So when the drought ends, which I will bet my left testicle it does, will that be a sign that climate change has ended?

Australia had a 12 year drought that is over - was that drought a sign of global warming or was the breaking of the dought global warming?

This means we can have an effect by reducing human CO2 output and cleaning up the beach by not allowing the trash to get dumped in the first place..

so you disagree that the debate distracts from taking real action? why does everyone need to agree on an unbelievably complex science subject? literally only a few people on the entire planet can grasp the subject and even then they struggle.

was listening to a climatolagist super expert on a morning news show sunday, he was being interviewed on account of the 5% snowpack measurement. He ended with guaranteeing everyone listening that it will not rain again in California for >8 more months. it rained solid here last nite. and for me, that doesn't mean man-made global warming doesn't exist, it highlights that if the one side is going to make the science behind taking action the critical issue, then you have to be right on things like guarantees else that puts a chink in the armor and allows doubt, which stops action.

the science is settled is a phrase that encompasses all of those errors in judgement.

that's why i like the old 1970s ad campaign- give a hoot, don't pollute. it was simple and effective, like most take-action projects are and need to be.

Meanwhile, the fracking for oil & gas uses a ridiculous amount of water, which is then contaminated with toxic chemicals, and then injected into aquifers with drinkable water! Fuckin' outrageous.

I'm trying to figure out your argument here.. You are against doing anything about Global Warming because you think the PR is bad or because a single guy said something dumb? I'm really struggling here to figure out why you are so against doing anything if you believe there is man made global warming.

Would you rather it be called man assisted global warming?

i couldn't even begin to sort out that twisted shit you just spun my words into. what you just wrote is the fucking polar opposite of what i am stating and have stated in other words in this thread and elsewhere here.

Hey I got my flip-flops ready for global warming, but they've been sitting in the closet for the last 6 months on account that it's been pretty damn cold.

My fear about about climatologists being wrong about climate change being man made vs. a natural cycle is that a) we pour a piss pot of money into trying to stop it at great cost and b) we don't find a solution on how to adjust to something that was going to happen anyways. That's a hell of a gamble.

Exactly.. the Ozone issue is a clear example that if we take action we have the ability to solve issues before it gets too bad. Squealer probably just thinks the problem solved it's self...

I'm not calling truth weak. I'm calling YOU weak.

When confronted with true facts that do not support your preconceived ideas, you lack the strength to admit you're wrong or offer a solid argument to support your position, and instead take the weakling way out and hurl pointless insults and those you engage with.

You do this so often I'm surprised it hasn't become obvious to you.

I tend to believe that too. Sometimes lots of older people just don't seem to want anything to change, and yearn for the "good old days" of their idealized youth. It's probably impossible to prove, but I definitely wonder about that once in a while.

... the difference though is that we did something about it. The Ozone hole was (and still is) real, and was caused by CFC's which became banned. Today the Ozone hole is smaller than it was and things are improving as far as that is concerned.

oh don't worry, i know what you were trying to do. nevertheless, my original post stands, this thread is a perfect example that libtards like yourself are more concerned about winning an argument than creating an environment conducive to action that curbs pollution.

you just did it yourself. you waxed over a shit ton of positive facts and comments I've made in this thread and instead feel the need to point your finger at me and exclaim i am lazy and weak re: the argument, all while ignoring the action and strength i have in my actions listed and ideas on how to get more people to curb pollution.

so sure, feel free to continue showing everyone what a completely desperate douchebag you are.
