FUCK YOU health insurance!

So I hurt my back really bad almost 2 weeks ago. When I first hurt it, my chiro told me I needed an MRI ASAP to see if it was a slipped or torn disc. This was a Wednesday, I scheduled on for Thursday. Turns out my health insurance, Aetna, who I pay $200 for every month, pushed it back to Friday because they were trying to decide if they were going to pay for it or not. Then it got pushed back to Friday, Monday.. Tuesday they decide to not pay for it. They say I need to be injured and receiving treatment for 8 whole weeks before they would pay for anything. I will be in a fucking wheelchair if this goes on for 8 weeks! They also said I have a $5000 deductable on chiro, which basically means "fuck you pay for it yourself"

So I had to resort to shopping around for my own MRI.. I found them from $680-$490 is the cheapest I have found. The soonest they can get me in is Friday morn. Then I have to wait till Monday to get the results. So that will be almost 3 weeks with a back injury that should have gotten taken care of the day after I hurt myself.

I wont be surprised if I find out walking around with this injury for 3 weeks has fucked me up more and I will prob need MORE medical care, who knows if my insurance will pay for it or not.

Now I feel like calling them and screaming at them "WHAT THE FUCK DO I PAY YOU FOR... INSTANCES LIKE THIS YOU FUCKING ASSHOLES!!!!" but then they would probably drop me, then I'd be even more screwed.

I'm fucking pissed. thanx for letting me vent guys

Cripple porn could be hot.

Very sorry to hear about your back. And yes, it sounds like you are getting totally fucked. And not in the way that you enjoy.

Oh I just noticed your $5,000 deductible on chiro. If I recall correctly, that is a pretty typical policy when it comes to chiro as many do not believe that chiro is all that it's cracked up to be.

Of all the people I know that have visited a chiro on a regular basis, I can't think of one that did not have to pay all out-of-pocket.

I used to be a settlement negotiator for a law office and we would never let our clients visit one. Very poor settlements. Go to a real doctor.

Seriously, fuck Aetna.

I had a kidney infection and called my family doctor. They said he was booked up that day but to call an urgent care. before I went I called Aetna and they told me I was covered 100%, only had to pay the copay.

I go to the urgent care and get a prescription and told to go to my family doctor to follow up within 3 weeks. So I go to the family doctor and he runs some blood tests.

I get the bill in the mail today saying Aetna is NOT paying a single fucking penny. Even tho they said I was covered, they claimed it could of been a pre-existing condition and they will not cover it. Pre-existing? WTF?!?!? Yeah, Ive had this for 3 years and decided now would be a good time to get it taken care of.

Fuck you Aetna

My mom was in a light accident once, I can't remember what happened, but she hurt her neck. So she went to the chiropractor, again, and again, and again. This went on for two months. Finally she actually went to a doctor and the doctor was livid... the chiro was only hurting her with each visit and was not taking care of the problems in anyway. Doctor gave her some muscle relaxers and a few exercises, shortly thereafter she was totally fine.

Since then I have been very dubious of chiros. Sure it could have been an isolated incident, but I would much rather see a doctor.

Both my son's are seeing Orthopedic docs this month. One for his lower back and the other for his knee. The older one currently has no insurance. The younger one is on his last year on my policy. I just forked over $1050 for an MRI for the oldest. My insurance will cover the one for the youngest at 80%.

Would Aetna cover it if you were going through a Orthopedic doc instead of a chiro?

You pay $200 a month like you're supposed to for medical insurance and the company doesn't want to pay for an MRI, typical. That's the for profit health care industry for you, they make their money by rejecting claims. There wont be any healthcare reform because Obama doesn't have the balls to stand up to blue dog democrats so you know he doesn't have the balls to stand up to Republicans, fucking pussy.

As far as I read it, the MRI is what is needing to be covered, not the chiro visit. A chiro should be at most a hundred or so a visit, right? MRIs are a different matter.

Sorry to hear about your back problems, Aaliyah. Back pain is the worst *hugs*

It wasn't. I actually toned down what the insurance and legal industries feel about chiropractors. Did not feel like getting into that discussion about "how I love mine. I have been going to him for years. He knows exactly what to do."

Yeah, no shit.

$200 a month is pretty inexpensive for health insurance, but, even at that rate, if you saved $1,200 a year and just paid for problems when they come up, at the healthcare provider you choose, you often end up in a better situation.

Them paying for my chiro isn't even my concern. I have a customer that pays for all of that anyways. But why even set a $5000 chiro deductable, they should just say "sorry we don't pay for chiro"
my issue is they kept me waiting almost a week on an MRI that I needed ASAP for a condition that is NEW. I thought I paid my insurance company for situations like this.

Would Aetna cover it if you were going through a Orthopedic doc instead of a chiro?
I also went to a normal doctor for drugs and had both doctors xray me and report to Aetna. So I'm pretty sure it's not the fact that it's coming from a chiro that they rejected it. Their reasoning was "a back injury has to be treated for 8 weeks in a row before we pay for an MRI"
Meanwhile, I might have a slipped or torn disc in my back, and everyday it only hurts more. If I went 8 weeks like this before finding out what is wrong w me, I would prob be worse off than I am now.
I'm paying out of pocket now for my MRI and not holding my breath that Aetna will pay for any of my treatment after I find out what's wrong. Fucking bs.

ya know Amelia you might be right, right now the only thing Aetna is doing is keeping the cost of my birth control down from $48 a month to $15 a month.. but most Americans have health insurance "just in case" something like THIS happens..

Health care is a right. Single payer health care would have treated this problem efficiently by getting the right treatment done the first time around. Getting the right treatment done in a timely fashion could prevent further injury.

The possibility of her being permanently damage is slim but the burden on society if she is disable would be much more. A health care system that is single payer could prevent her from being a burden on society.

WTF is this 8 weeks worth pain bullshit? 8 weeks so we can milk as much money as possible....8 weeks to see if she is really hurt...
No human being should suffer fucking 8 weeks worth of back pain before getting a MRI.

Our health care system is profit driven which is wrong.

I hope your back feels better and its just a pulled muscle that needs some TLC.

Sorry about the back, but seriously, go to a doctor next time.
LOL! BadDog I just told youuuuu I went to my chiro AND a "real doctor" they both took xrays and made the same diagnosis. They both spoke with Aetna.
Aetna's reasoning had nothin to do with where the diagnosis was coming from. They said I would have to be injured and receiving treatment for 8 weeks straight before they pay for an MRI.
I suppose this could of been in some fine print somewhere when I signed up for the plan, but honestly the whole health insurance system confuses the hell out of me.

LOL! Actually, it does If ur serious tell your girlfriend to email me we can be friends

I even managed to do a camshow tonight but felt bad I couldn't be my normal swinging-from-the-chandeliers self but I did manage to get naked and tease a lot and cum once before logging off and I managed to keep the attention of about 600 chatters for an entire hour though so I'm not worried

It's supposed to be Foot Fetish week on my site and this was the one time I didn't have at least 10 foot fetish guys begging to see my toes.. figures LOL.

thanx for all of your support guys! I'm getn that MRI on Friday and hopefully it's NOT a disc problem. I can't afford it LOL..

originally the chiro. But I had both the chiro and the doctor take seperate xrays and they both told me they PERSONALLY spoke w Aetna on the phone and told them what the prob was (t4 bone slipping backwards, possible disc prob) and that it was a new problem. They both have been keeping in contact with me and can't believe Aetna rejected it either.
So your personal feelings about chiros aside, do you REALLY think who ordered the MRI orginally had something to do with them rejecting it? I mean they have the xrays and same results from BOTH doctors..
And if it DOES have something to do with is, why wouldn't they come out and tell me?
I'm not tryin to argue I'd really like to know what you think, I think I rly need to start educating myself about this kinda crap ugh

What you need is an insurance agent worth a fuck that will listen to your needs and then find you a policy with a good company to fit your needs, or get it as close as he can at the best price.

I have an awesome insurance guy that I can put you in touch with. Or, ask around your area for recommendations to a reputable guy. Dont just open the phone book and pick one.

It may not help you out this time, but surely you dont want to repeat this kind of treatment again in the future.

I am not really trying to argue with you, merely trying to help for the next time.

My personal feelings about chiropractors is based on my professional experience with them . . . . and actually, now that I think about it, I had an opportunity to get involved in an insurance scam many years prior to that. The centerpiece? A chiropractor.

I initially asked you if Aetna was a PPO or an HMO, because I am not really sure if they offer both or not. I have been researching a group plan for my company and Aetna HMO was one of the options.

With an HMO you must start with your primary care physician. If they refer you to a chiro it looks to me like you only have to pay a $15 co-pay with 20 visits a year. Of course, since you have a $5k deductible it is entirely possible that the plans are completely different, but I would not think it would be that different.

If you had a PPO then you don't need a referral, however, [every plan I saw] had at least a 25% coinsurance AFTER the deductible for 24 visits a year.

So, my first question needs to be addressed first. But my honest thoughts are that if the doctor put in the script instead of the non-doctor it would have had a much better chance of going through. Why Aetna did not say that? Perhaps because the question was not posed to them in that manner.
