My company can do it, but each source studio would need symmetrical fiber-optic connectivity (better reliability) and a specific machine set-up that we provide. (Or we can setup the source machine remotely once specification requirements are met)

We also setup the necessary datacenter clusters, based upon the number of your potential customers.

Costs can be pretty high using some of the content delivery companies out there, but we have maximized efficiency for cost.

We (obviously) have seen a significantly reduced demand as of late for such high streaming specs.

The platform that we have used successfully for such high requirements is Windows Media based (rolled out on Windows Server 2003 and 2008).

For default configurations that can be an issue, but Windows Media services includes features such as Fast Start and the complete elimination of a buffer time.

There are ways to customize the server configuration that will ensure immediate delivery of video content.

I've noticed that the other solutions offered are all webcam-based services, is that what you are looking for in particular?

I have been working with WMS for all most 8 years and never get to less then 2 sec latency.

That's significant indeed, but should have been resolved somewhat with WMS9. What kind of configs were you working with?

It isn't impossible to get latency levels below that, but much tweaking will have to be done involving the codecs, you will have to use http streaming (lowest latency through the elimination of rollover from RTSP->MMS-http) and the environmental variables have to be impeccable in regards to your clients.

I'm presently testing out Expression encoder, which has support for true HD content streaming. By the end of this month we should be ready to deploy.

I am playing with an encoder from Inlet , still no sub 2 sec value. I will keep you posted. My email is jay @ objectcube.com . Since we both seem to be trying to do the same we should keep in touch.
