The Health Insurance Racket: Getting Rich by Denying Americans Care

CIGNA?s Edward Hanway spends his holidays in a $13 million beach house in New Jersey. Meanwhile, regular Americans are routinely denied coverage for the care they need when they need it most.

Welcome to the American health insurance industry. Instead of helping policyholders attain the health security they need for their families, big insurance companies get rich by denying coverage to patients. Now they?re sending lobbyists to Washington, DC to twist the arms of lawmakers to oppose reform of the status quo. Why? Because the status quo pays.

Learn more about the glamorous lives of billionaire health insurance executives and tell us your story of being victimized by their greed. Then contribute to Brave New Films so we can continue to get the word out about the health insurance racket.

Take a look at our video expose of UnitedHealthcare CEO Stephen Hemsley who owns $744,232,068 in unexercised stock options while denying Americans basic health care rights. Also, watch Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich explains what a public option for healthcare coverage really means for working people.

Insurance companies are there to make money, if they couldn't make a big profit, they wouldn't exist. If people don't like them, don't buy their product and they will dissapear overnight.

Insurance companies make money denying or reducing claims NOT paying them.

The rules and regs changed back in the Reagan era when insurance companies, and HMO's went from non-profit to profit driven corporations.

Thank your Republicans.

Not a catch 22, drive the health insurance companies out of biz by stopping to buy from them, and we will all be on gov health care, which will be awesome and free (free assuming you don't pay taxes)

I think the whole insurance industry is a scam from day 1. OBVIOUSLY alot of people are going to get screwed if any of these companies want to stay in biz. You can't run an insurance company if everyone has constant claims always being paid out cause they would just go broke. It's a bad concept from Day 1, and from Day 1 they were invented to make money not for charity work.
