Uninsured More Likely to Die, Study Finds

Study finds uninsured more likely to die than those WITH insurance.

Did it really take a study to find this out LOL

Uninsured More Likely to Die, Study Finds

WASHINGTON ? People without health insurance are 40 percent more likely to die than those with private insurance, according to a new study whose authors say the finding underscores the need to expand coverage to the 46 million who lack it.

People will just have to pull themselves up by the bootstraps and get insurance if they don't want to die.

The glorious free market has no time or patience for slackers.

Which is why we should end medicare now!

Why should we be forced to socialize health care for old folks who didnt save their money or werent successful enough to be able to pay their own health care bills by the time they are 65???

If you cant pay for your own health bills by the time you retire, you failed.

And maybe I'm missing something... but isn't there a 100% chance that everyone is going to die? Even those with the best health insurance?

I think you are missing a key word. PRIVATE insurance. Yes people on welfare are more likely to die with the government plan over a private plan.

Hmm wonder if not having insurance is a direct result of having less money, which means they don't eat, live, take care of themselves as well on top of it. Will free health insurance get them a new lifestyle, proper food and diet, exercise and a generally more fit life style? Maybe we should also pay for their food and gym membership, and hire them personal trainers and dietitians? At what point is it up to someone to take care of their own shit and not depend on the government?

Health care that is lower cost better priced is the way to go. And part of that is getting rid of frivolous malpractice lawsuits, etc etc.

Are you people honestly having this discussion? Has intelligence really been thrown out the window here?

So you believe that people will die because they DON'T have health insurance? That is completely retarded.

"Hey... if you don't buy our product, you're going to DIE!"

I mean, seriously... I have a little secret for you. EVERYONE dies and whether you have health insurance or not, guess what? You're STILL going to die. I knew a girl who always had insurance, even found plans for when she was in college or out of work. One day she goes in and they say you have cancer but its terminal. Health insurance sure as hell didn't save her life or any of the other people with insurance who die every day of a myriad of other causes.

I don't have insurance and I am perfectly healthy. In the last 20 years I have been to the doctor 5 or 6 times, 10 max. I SAVED money by not having health insurance and the couple times it was something serious I just paid over time on a monthly plan.

So... Why am I still alive then? I mean I don't have health insurance.

Because the statement is completely fucking ridiculous. Health insurance doesn't make you healthier and it doesn't make you die if you do not have it. I know more unhealthy people that go to the doctors all the time who HAVE insurance than those who do not.

The best that can be said is that having health insurance MAY have the POSSIBILITY of extending your life on this planet, but it most certainly is not a cause or even a very dependable predictor for death, which is totally ensured anyways.
