The Minister of Information and Communication, Prof Dora Akunyili said contrary to the insinuations being made, ?Nigeria remains a major investment destination and a country where most businesses thrive in trust, good faith, competence and integrity.

According to the statement, ?Nigeria also demands an unconditional apology from Sony Corporation for this deliberate negative campaign against the country?s image and reputation.

?The apology must be given the same measure of publicity by Sony Corporation in all channels where the unfortunate adverts were aired.

?In the light of the above, the Federal Government of Nigeria requests Sony Corporation to immediately withdraw that advertisement from circulation.?

Seriously - in Canada we have Newfie's that everyone makes fun of - take the joke since Nigeria is used in scams all around the world... learn to laugh about it and use it in your campaigns instead of getting sensitive about the issue. We all should know that just because of a few online fraud's using Nigeria doesn't mean the entire country is bad.

OMG my gf and I, who's of Nigerian heritage, seen that commercial and was floored. It seems that no one hates a 419 scammer, or as they put it, "a yahoo millionaire" worse than an upstanding Nigerian citizen.

Does anyone know what the authorities in Nigeria are doing about all the fraud, if anything at all?

I saw a 20/20 report a few years ago about the scams. 20/20 had no problem at all meeting with a scammer, then finding locations where a dozen or more scammers are all on the phone or online ripping off suckers from anywhere they can. Can these people not be stopped?
