u.s.a health care- What would it cost to get a minor operation?

I have no health coverage insurance at all, and I have a broken toe, or a small piece of bone is moving and needs to be surgically removed in my toe.

How much do you think that would cost me, cash money, for the minor operation to remove the bone chip?

If you need to say stay overnight and there are no additional tests needed for diagnostics you can figure on about 1600.00 It could change a whole lot though. A nights stay is about 500-1000, and I would guess your bone removal would be under a 75 minute surgery so add in about 500-700 for that time allotment. However if it requires a cosmetic surgeon then figure on a cost of about 2,000 per toe.

This also assumes you check your bill afterwards. Bring your own toothbrush and supplies, try to use as little non reusable supplies too. Though it is hard to get past that damn water pitcher, still been trying. However do not turn away food that is already included in your room costs, so eat and drink away.

is a minor bone chip removal and possible bone debride necessary for overnight stay? can't they do something like that in an hour visit or something?

Depends on how much sedation. Also figure like I said OR time should be about 60-75 minutes. The first 10 or so is prep work and all that, then they work pretty quickly.

Very well could be outpatient, assuming no problems, sedation, etc. Would save a lot of money, again unless it is a cosmetic surgeon. Then you still would be looking at about 2k.

I pay medical bills all of the fucking time.

Which toe?

I would always typically say correct it, but well your body will typically adjust.

big toe, left foot, the problem is on the top of the instep just at the very start of the toe, so that compensating for it when I walk is causing secondary problems in the rest of the feet

yeah, sounds like gout but it's not, it took a severe direct hit months ago and it is still hurting and occasionally bruises from under the skin like there is a piece of bone moving,

IMO, you are looking at about $3k to $8k

If you are doing local without anesthesia it will be MUCH MUCH cheaper, but will probably suck to have to see and feel them digging around in your toe. The minimum amount is probably about $2k just to have a seat in the operating room, then add on fees, x-rays, etc you are up to $3k easy

anesthesia is expensive because it involves the anesthesiologist who get paid a LOT

I know a few people around here who actually went to Canada for "vacation" and went to a hospital there and cost a lot less, but thats your call.

I would say you will have to have X-Rays...Lab...and a local in place of being put under (they will place a screen in front of you so you will not have to watch the procedure and a local will be much...much cheaper). I would think it will be an outpatient procedure which will be much...much cheaper. With pain meds and antibiotices...I would say that the whole thing should be under $3000.00...but the thing to do is to talk with a surgeon and he will be able to give you a close estimate.

He will not need everyone in the room during the entire event, so allowing the anesthesiologist to surgery hop keeps it down. Odds are it can be a local. You will feel dull pain to just awkward sensations, you do not have to watch or see shit. They also offer headphones if you do not want to hear. Only big issue is that they have to keep OR rooms super cold. Yes they will more than likely run a standard blood workup and have an xray done. You still should not be looking at a bill as large as many are quoting, if that was the case I would of been super fucked long ago.

Depends where you go and who you see. One of my employees cut her finger. The workers comp got a bill for $1500 for some super glue and a tetinus shot. Total time 5 minutes.
