I think the biggest concern that affiliates would have is whether or not the content provider knows anything about traffic and operating a paysite. If they do, or are willing to learn very quickly, I don't see why people wouldn't promote it assuming the content provider would have great access to great content.

well, actually it's the content provider who can get the girls to shoot more stuff at any time...

but i understand the concerns about the traffic part

Depends on how it was presented. And what you mean in the first place by sponser program. Are we talking paysite here? What paysite owner would also sell his raw content? ummmm?

Probably not. I mean, if the sites were spectacular and I thought I could sell them, then I'd give them a shot. I haven't found that to be the case most times however.

So far, content providers have not had the greatest track record of moving into the paysite business.

Yes, but i would say that a provider would need a partner.
Much like what we did, joint ventured to launch www.hdpays.com

I had my program in 2005 and have been doing content for others from 2004 until now. Never had an issue. I have over 1,500 affiliates at www.getnaughtycash.com

so - when you have 1500 affiliates and run your own program - why do you still shoot for others?

don't get me wrong, i'm just trying to learn. cause at some point i would keep all content to myself - but maybe i'm getting it totally wrong.

same here, doing fine since '05, several programs, some big hit sites too like http://kelliyoung.com http://pixiespillows.com http://korriangel.com http://arieljordan.com

open your sites, juice some of your own traffic, the rest is gravy

Well to be fair, I don't sell those either.

I guess what I'm saying is that I wouldn't discount an affiliate program because it was made by someone who was primarily a content shooter. It really comes down to the individual product offering.

If you planned on doing it solo, I'd find a traffic/marketing guy who'll let you pick their brain..

As mentioned, a lot of content guys throw up not so great sites. Perhaps they leave their good content for their bigger customers or something. Dunno.

Just because you have a program, doesnt mean its sucessful. You can say how great youre doing on the boards , but its what stays in your bank account that matters. I tried and failed on the paysite end. Was a valiant attempt. But IMO you need to choose road A -content shooting , or Road B - paysite end. There is no road C .

if you're going to do a revshare program you better have an incredible paysite in some niche(s) or you'll fail and wish you hadn't bothered. most large affiliates have a plethora of high paying PPS programs with top notch hardcore sites in them to choose from. Revshare really is for specialty type sites and the affiliates who appreciate them.

It´s a mistake to start a program filled with content you are selling. First of all the paysite wouldn´t be diffferent from hundreds of other standard sites. Second you might hurt your content shop business.

But you have the chance to get cheap content for special themed sites and you can provide potential affiliates with some very special tools which will be cheap for you because you produce your own content.
