Who's got an updated list of content downloaders to block? Someone is too easily downloading all my stuff and uploading em to the rapidshares.

Not every idiot with a stolen login and a pirated spider knows that.

Useragent blocking is not a fix, but it does help.

oh, i am sorry now i understand ... and i say its not possible to block spiders, once you will do something, uploaders will post request and new proggie or settings are out ...

The guys who rip tons of content, the ones that actually matter, already have
their software set to spoof IE or Firefox, or at least they know exactly how to
use that setting. The only ones you'll block by user agent are the guys who might
do a few videos per year - the ones who really don't matter.

Much more effective, I think, is to stop them based on seeing that they are in
fact trying to rip the site. As mentioned, Strongbox has a couple of protections
built in, but Throttlebox is designed just for that purpose and does the job better
than anything else currently available.

The best way I can think of to prevent this sort of shit is to limit the bandwidth allowance, and possibly consider streaming via RTMP server and NOT progressive download. The only way they'll be able to get anything is screecapturing the video, which most of them would be deterred by.

I've been throttling my users bandwidth and I've only gotten one complaint so far.
