I looked into some of these services a few years ago, You can actually implement the same identity protection for free.

By placing a "security freeze" on your credit reports through the major credit bureaus, you are automatically notified if someone tries to obtain credit in your name etc..

More information on the process of placing a "credit freeze" through Experian can be found at https://www.experian.com/consumer/ca...e=FREEZECENTER

the poster above is correct.

i use freecreditreport.com, monitor my accounts (checking and cc) daily/every 2 days and shred all docs going into the trash. ALL docs. change my passwords often.

i also do not use my debit card at gas stations etc., due to keystroke loggers.

I monitor my own reports.
I could place a free lock or freeze on them if I wanted - no real need.

Seriously not about to pay some 3rd party company way to much money per month to do nothing but buy more advertising.

but on a serious note, lifelock is not a valid solution at all for protecting personal data.

in fact, many believe it to be a fraudulent business it's so bad.
