is the Xbox still so loud ? That was the main reason why I changed to PS3 besides the BD Player.

"SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) is not in talks to include Sony Corp's (6758.T) Blu-ray high-definition DVD technology in its Xbox 360 video game console, an executive said on Wednesday. The comments by Aaron Greenberg, group product manager for Xbox 360, poured cold water on recent speculation that Microsoft could support Blu-ray after Toshiba Corp (6502.T), backer of the rival HD DVD format, gave up when key movie studios and retailers abandoned the technology. "Xbox is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Association to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience," Greenberg told Reuters in an interview." |

So XBOX 360 $299 blu-ray add-on $100 TOTAL $399 PS3 with blu-ray $299 TOTAL $299 So yeah makes total sense why people would go for that. Not to mention you have two separate devices since it's an add-on instead of everything being in one nice small package. O course I'm not even adding in the fact that the PS3 was built in wi-fi and with the XBOX 360 you need to spend another $100. You sound like a fanboi as far as the PS3 not reigning. Sorry but the PS3 outsold both the XBOX 360 and Wii in September. At least get your fact straight. In the last 10 months the PS3 and XBOX 360 have sold the same amount of units. I'll call that a push. And if you want to get technical in its first 3 years of existence the XBOX 360 sold 23 million units the PS3 which still has a month to go before it hits it's 3 year anniversary has sold 25.2 million units and the 360 had a whole year in which is had ZERO competition. And of all the 360s sold how many are someone's 2nd, 3rd and 4th replacement for a unit that when kaput? Now don't get me wrong we have a 360 in the household. I don't even own a PS3. The 360 is a good system has good games and all, but it has it's faults too and to suggest it is somehow oh so superior to the PS3 is just stupid. By the way if you already own a 360 and want blu-ray why waste money on some gimped add-on from MS when you can go to wal-mart and get a blu-ray player that is better for $150? Not to mention that $150 blu-ray player will probably be $100 by Christmas. |

If you have a TV under 50 inches and/or you sit far away from it then you probaly can't tell the difference, but from a technical standpoint blu-ray is superior to digital download. Show me a digital format that is 1080p and has a 40 Mbps bitrate. Most "HD" stuff from Amazon, Itunes, XBL and PSN is 720p and has bitrates of 4-6 Mbps. As I said I'm speaking technically. One's viewing situation will determine if it makes a real world difference.

More than likely not going to happen, but who knows.
http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/23/m...y-on-xbox-360/ A recent Gizmodo sit down with Steve Ballmer led with a headline exclaiming a Blu-ray add-on for Xbox was coming. See, when Ballmer was asked about making the Xbox a home theater companion of choice and where Blu-ray might fit in, the Windows 7 wild man said, "Well I don't know if we need to put Blu-ray in there -- you'll be able to get Blu-ray drives as accessories." He then added that on-demand is the future of movies, not physical media. Now our bud Major Nelson, Director of Programming for Xbox Live, has stepped up to lay the conflation to rest. The Major says that Ballmer was referring to Blu-ray accessories for the PC and reiterated Microsoft's focus of bringing instant-on 1080p streaming movies to the Xbox 360. So... that should end speculation of Blu-ray on Xbox right? Not if history serves, nope. I still use my 360 HDDVD player pretty often. Got close to 75 titles and didn't pay much more than $10 a pop. |
