Another fun South FL strip club shut down this weekend

I used to be a big strip club goer back in the day, driving all over South Florida, partying in the strip clubs and recruiting girls for porn movies. Shame to see one of South Florida's most fun, dirty clubs being shut down. Boynton Beach police did the same to a nearby club a couple of years ago, Platinum Gold, formerly Aphrodite's.

--
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/pal...,3191668.story

Boynton Beach Police shut down Platinum Showgirls strip club Friday night following an undercover investigation that resulted in more than 50 felony and misdemeanor charges against 30 employees for drug sales, underage drinking and prostitution.

The club, located at 1115 N. Federal Highway, also violated county ordinances by allowing many of their dancers to engage in lap dances and working without identification cards, according to Public Information Officer Stephanie Slater.

"This establishment has generated numerous complaints not only from the residential neighborhoods nearby, but from citizens throughout the city," Boynton Beach Police Chief G. Matthew Immler said. "Tonight's operation is the culmination of that investigation and the reduction of untoward illegal activity that adversely affects the safety of our citizens and the image of our city."

Going on a tip that dancers were selling drugs, in June, undercover officers began visiting the club. Within days, they were able to buy hundreds of dollars in cocaine and prescription painkillers from dancers, Slater, said.

On numerous occasions, dancers offered to perform sexual acts on the undercover officers in private rooms. The dancers even went so far as to perform those acts on each other in an attempt to solicit money from the officers.

Platinum Showgirls owner Matt Barrow, 52, is charged with racketeering, felony public nuisance, unlawfully possessing property for the purpose of selling controlled substances, and deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution by allowing employees to engage in prohibited acts.

Managers Kenneth Willig, 45, of Boynton Beach and Gregory Lenox, 34, of Lake Worth are charged with racketeering, felony public nuisance, deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution and allowing employees to engage in prohibited acts.

Lily Gibeaut, 51, who detectives identified as the "madam" after she negotiated the prices of girls and private rooms with undercover officers, is charged with racketeering, felony public nuisance, deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution, aiding solicitation of prostitution and allowing employees to engage in prohibited acts.

What a load of bullshit.

The "safety" of the community. What a fucking joke. Consensual adults having a good time behind closed doors is just too "dangerous".

And oh my God...the strippers offered to have sex? And then they did each other in the VIP room? And...~gasp~, did lap dances?

Every goddamn politician should be hung from the nearest tree.

You might could tell that I am just about sick of the govt. telling me what I can and can't do. They milk us dry on taxes, and then shut down ANY type of fun or freedom. It's disgusting to me.

And just another reason that the rest of the civilized world laughs at us.

I hope all of you feel so much safer tonight, now that the police spent tax money on an "investigation" of partygirl/stripper/whores inside a titty bar acting like: partygirl/stripper/whores.

Welcome to the United States of Prisons.

Meanwhile nuclear warheads are being brought in thru the keys undetected as officials are all gathered on a far more brutal crime.. lapdancing.

This county is a joke.

im sure the owner will say "what, i had no clue they were doing that" and he will get off. kind of like the owner of rachaels in orlando. same thing. hell even horace grant got a blowjob from one of the dancers. needless to say, the drugs and the underage drinking are probably what did it. im sure it was a dancer that got screwed out of money or something because who in their right mind would tell someone they are selling drugs. they need to just keep the clubs in the industrial area and let whatever happens happen. i wonder what would happen to the economy if porn no longer existed.

Didn't miss anything.

THe "underage drinking" is more than likely 18, 19, and 20 year old ADULTS. The "selling drugs" is nothing more than a guy in there selling grams of coke to the girls to party on.

Have you never went to a nightclub in your life? Or had any fun? Your post sounds like you agree that chicks fucking and snorting a line of coke with a drink is endangering Boynton Beach Fla.

What a fucking joke.

First off...the drinking laws should have NEVER been set to tell ADULTS that they can't have a drink.

Secondly...I am old enough to have legally drank at 18, and I can assure you that me and most teenagers were drinking and partying LOOOOONNNNNGG before we were 18.

Thirdly...I am a full grown man. If I want to go into a strip club and get nasty with a girl and do a line and maybe pay two of them to eat each other's pussy in the VIP room and then maybe even pay the girl to come to a hotel and fuck me when she gets off work...well, I suppose if the people are going to allow the govt. to tell them that is a "crime" then that's the way it is.

But to spend taxpayer money by sending undercover cops in to entrap those girls? That is total and complete bullshit.

But you would know that...being so intelligent and all.

where i come from 18 is legal drinking age. it blows my mind that at 18 years old, you're old enough to join the army and get shot at for your country, old enough to pose naked and do porn, buy smokes, pretty much all the rights of an adult, yet cannot drink or gamble in the states until you're 21, wtf is with that? at 18 a large majority of people are already in the workforce slugging away at an adult life. they are adults, why do they have to wait another 3 years to be legally treated as one? i agree with him in the fact that i highly doubt it's 15-16 year olds in there getting hammered.

secondly, ANY fucking club you goto anywhere is gonna have a handful of bartenders selling blow, pills, or weed. if you're a legal consenting adult, i don't see why this should be any more illegal than buying a drink or a pack of smokes.

3rdly, sex for money against the law? what a fucking joke.

i mean yes, we can all agree upon and see why what happened happened, but it really is a crock of shit on most levels...

Legalize, legalize, legalize.

Pot, prostitutes, shooting galleries/jack shacks, cuban cigars, gambling.

And weed. Did I mention the weed? I have Glaucoma so I can't see what I just wrote. Anyway, legalize the weed. Did I mention the wee - oh yes, I see now that I did.

But ban heroin and cocaine - that shit killed Mitch Hedburg and he was on Comedy Central last night and I realized how much I miss his humor, long hair and southern drawl accent.

regardless of how you feel or what laws you want to obey and which laws you don't.. the fact remains that laws and regulations exist that people and businesses have to abide by. doubly so when licenses and permits exist, necessary for the operation of a business - which come with conditions.

those rules we live by are a large part of what makes a civilized country, civilized.

if you don't agree with them... fight to change the laws. if you don't agree with them and choose to break them.. then you are also choosing to forfeit your rights, your property and your freedom. that's the deal.

and the funniest thing abotu people getting all uppity about strip club related laws, zoning, community uproar, police investigations, prostitution arrests etc and that the rhetoric is all the same.

its all just harmless fun happening behind closed doors between consenting adults... yada yada yada.... yet here you all are. bitching about your "rights" being taken away or infringed on, yet you are powerless to stand up for yourself and make a persuasive argument to reverse laws. when the community disagrees = you lose. end of story. and that's exactly how the system is supposed to work.

if something like this ever went to an actual vote, i think you'd find the majority of the community ruling otherwise. but good luck ever seeing that day. you said it yourself "you are powerless to stand up for yourself and make a persuasive argument to reverse laws"

bitching and complaining is all we're allowed to have...

that was my point... people bitch and complain - and then do nothing to actually stand up for themselves. city government, mayors etc are still pandering to the will of the voters. its not like the entire city is totally against closing down strip clubs, but they rolled the dice and did it anyway.

everyone acts like they are right and its black and white...even when the law clearly says otherwise. and while they are bitching, the very thing they are bitching about remains unchanged because the sad fact is all they do is bitch... OR they have a view which is in the minority to begin with.

Well, from what I'm seeing happening in our country...we ARE powerless.

Just look at healthcare...it went from "making healthcare affordable" to turning it into another money grab and it became "making sure everybody buys insurance"

The medical and insurance lobbyists make damn sure that the govt. does what they say. They spend millions on every senator. And the funny thing is...we just gave them a few hundred billion in the last year. Remember? Wan't it Aetna that was "too big to fail" and we were told on the news that they are the real insurers behind EVERY insurance company?

So that means our govt. gave them a few hundred billion to bail them out...and they turned right around and handed that money right back to the senators! Funny how that shit works isn't it. I saw the numbers that they contributed to EVERY senator's election campaign this year on CNN. Which of course, came from our taxes from the bailout.

And no, there isn't anything I can do about it but complain. Hell, if I were elected myself...I too would take a few million dollars for my vote. Me and mine always come first. That's the way the world really is. And that's why people like Thomas Jefferson said we were going to be in a lot of trouble if the govt. ever started running people's lives.

And in case you haven't noticed....they tell us EVERYTHING to do. From the time we get up in the morning until the time we go to bed.

And it's just starting.

Just wait and see. While we make glib posts and "witty" comments on a message board, they already tell us what we can and can't do with our own bodies. And as soon as "healthcare reform" is passed, they are going to start telling us that we can't smoke, drink, or eat certain foods.

Here is MY point: A man should be free to do as he pleases. And no I'm not talking about killing, raping and stealing. But a "normal" free person (like 99% of us are) should be able to at the very least go out on a Friday night and blow off some steam and get fucked up and maybe even laid without the police dept. setting up "sting" operations to bust people for doing nothing more than having a good time.

listen up asshole, having a good time isn't contributing any tax dollars (ok, you ARE getting taxed on your drinks). so shut your fucking mouth and get back to work or it's the hole for you...

That's pretty much the way it is. Matter of fact that works real good for the prison industry here in the U.S. It's huge. Turns out we have more of our own citizens jailed than any country in the world. Numbers wise and percentage wise. Not evil China, or evil Cuba, or any of those evil muslim countries that hate us, or even evil North Korea. Nope, the udisputed king of imprisoning it's own people is us in the good ole USA

I love this country and the people in it. I despise what our govt. has become on every level.

I live 5 minutes up the street from them, and it's in a bad neighborhood, so I wouldn't doubt those things.. I'm a local and I would have never gone to that club cause of it's location.

Boynton is wierd like that, you got the ocean steet (a1a) 3 to 15million dollar houses, 1 blocks west from there is the worst hood you can possibly hit with gangs driveby's and shit, and 3 minutes further west is suburbia with middle to upperd middle class neighborhoods.

I have no problem with the investigation being placed on the underage drinking and especially on the drugs but the whole "prostitution" and "lap dance" thing just seems so silly to me. Seems as though the drugs and the underage drinking were the main issues that kicked in the investigation.

doesnt anyone find it weird that we have the most people in prison, yet we dont have the lowest crime rate in the world, not by a long shot, so something is not working..

USA is somewhere where someone can commit wire fraud for $100k and get 20 years in jail, that time just doesnt fit the crime.. in other developed countries like ireland, switzerland, the same person will get maybe 1year...

thats the reasons our prisons, jails are filled up, people getting dozens of years for shit that could be handled with community service...

but then again the jail/prison system is HUUUGE business.. hope you realize a lot of our prisons/jails are PRIVATELY owned by people who the government pays to RUN IT... seriously WTF?

anyway hopefully the USA will change... heck im scared of USA, it doesnt take a lot to see yourself facing 10+ years for some white collar stuff..

Here is the thing, and this is coming from a lot of years of running strip clubs. You can be a fucking dictator, and you still couldn't keep strippers from buying/selling/trading drugs. Even if you ban known drug dealers from your club the girls will have someone else come in and deliver them, and even if you fire a girl that is dealing she will find another girl you don't suspect to deal for her. I hate to use the hack cliche of herding cats, but that is exactly what it is. There is an excellent chance that none of the club owners/managers/staff had a clue that drugs were being dealt, and when the bust goes down they will still be held liable and charged.

The same thing goes with prostitution. You could try and watch everything, but if a girl wants to sell her ass she will, and the only thing you can do is prevent it from happening in your club. Now the article makes it sound like the girls were performing sex acts on each other, but believe me when I tell you what the police department considers a sex act, and what really is a sex act, is often two very different things. If the cops are looking to make a bust they will use two girls touching each others tits as a sex act. Also, I could go into Wal-Mart and offer a cashier $200 for sex, and the numbers say she will take it if I hit enough cashiers. Does that mean Wal-Mart is promoting prostitution? No, it only means EVERYONE has a price.

Finally, as far as underage drinking goes, that could also be a police set up. I remember when Larry Flynt opened up a Hustler Hollywood store in Cincinnati, and the police sent a bearded kid that looked like he was 30 in to buy porn. I never would have ID'd that kid, and they didn't either, and it was the start of a long legal battle. that store was only 45 miles away from the store I was based out of in Dayton, Ohio, and the woman I worked for was a business partner of Larry Flynt and Harry Mohney, the owner of Deja Vu. I got to see this kid in court and he fucking looked like a middle aged guy.

The moral to this story is you can never discount the lengths a police department, mayor, etc. will go to get rid of a perceived problem...

everyone acts like they are right and its black and white...even when the law clearly says otherwise. and while they are bitching, the very thing they are bitching about remains unchanged because the sad fact is all they do is bitch... OR they have a view which is in the minority to begin with.
You're making a blanket statement here with no facts. Just because there are people on message boards that bitch without doing actually doing anything, doesn't mean everyone is bitching without doing anything.

In my many years of running porn stores and strip clubs every state we had a store or club in had a group that actively fought against bullshit laws. We were affiliated with Deja Vu, and they have always been at the forefront of fighting asinine laws. The problem was that we were fighting against guys that would patronize our stores and clubs at night in private, but then act like we were the devil in public. We weren't fighting the majority, we were fighting hypocrisy...

those rules we live by are a large part of what makes a civilized country, civilized.

if you don't agree with them... fight to change the laws. if you don't agree with them and choose to break them.. then you are also choosing to forfeit your rights, your property and your freedom. that's the deal.
I'd argue that a lot of my freedom is already gone with most of these laws being in place.

Drugs, prostitution, and drinking @ 16 should be legal.

I'm assuming you think Portugal and the Netherlands are uncivilized?

you are much safer now - the same thing will continue to happen - it'll just happen in private homes with more guns and higher amounts of drugs involved. More people will get killled or raped or worse and everyone can hum along happy knowing you and society are safer!

The main reason the police do this crap is to appear to be doing something when they aren't doing shit. Solving real crimes and tackling real societal issues takes hard work, but waltzing into a porn store or a strip club and making a few bullshit arrests gives them headlines in the paper and makes it appear they are actually doing something.

Mike Turner, the former mayor of Dayton, Ohio, is now in Congress because he made a career out of closing down adult businesses in Dayton. Never mind the fact that every year he was mayor Dayton, Ohio was at or near the top of the top 10 list of highest per capita crime cities in the US, often beating cities like Detroit and Miami. Perception is reality after all...
