I don't know if it was rigged but it seemed that way but then again the big is basically pointless with his size.

There was nothing rigged about it. Valuev has one skill, and that is being big. He is slow as fuck and his only chance of winning that fight was the same as every time he fights, using that ridiculous reach and keeping his opponent at bay with the jab, and using the jab to set up the right hand. The problem is he is so fucking slow he takes too long to pull the trigger.

David Haye, though, should be fucking ashamed of himself. He talked all that shit about the Klitschko's, and even wore that stupid fucking shirt with a picture of him holding Wladimir's severed head. Then he gets a heavyweight title fight against Vitali in a sold out 60,000 seat soccer stadium, but pulls out and takes the Valuev fight instead. Then in the late rounds when he actually had Valuev hurt he showed zero killer instinct and failed to capitalize.

When the day comes that Haye finally gets in the ring against either Klitschko brother he is going to go out flat on his back staring up at the lights...

although i agree with you about Hayes not finishing the job at the end

i've seen Valuev look FAR sharper in the past..
he just seemed way more lumbering than necessary..
he's a big tall fucker.. so maybe some people expect that..
but i'm convinced he was struggling less than he was making out

i played US basketball with few 7 ft + blokes.. and some were very sharp
plus with that kinda reach Valuev shoulda caught Hayes more than he did..

so can't put his failure to attack, down to a constant defense..
he wasn't getting hit enough to be so slow / punch drunk,
and let's not forget HE was the champ coming into this..

Hayes was impressive, was the fight of his life so far for sure,
but left himself wide open plenty of times during his showboating,
Valuev never fully exploited his height/weight advantage
if he had steamed in fists blazing early on, while he was sharp,
Hayes woulda likely got KO'd.. but they dragged it the distance
to keep the punters happy.. nobody wants to get booed for R1 KO

could be Valuev wants to retire.. but needs another payday before he does..
or maybe they're worried he would become the Williams sisters of boxing..

Was Hayes the guy that was training with his sparring partner standing on a box?

The thing is, Valuev looked far sharper against guys that were true heavyweights and also slow of foot. Haye is a blown up cruiserweight and had much better speed and footwork than anyone Valuev has ever faced in the past, and I think that confused the hell out of Valuev. I thought Valuev threw a lot more punches than he usually does, but he didn't take advantage when he had Haye on the ropes. In the end he just got out boxed by a smaller, faster fighter that didn't take enough chances for Valuev to capitalize on his size...

Amazing that it is possible for the smaller guy to beat the big one.
