I'm guessing you can use it. $1.50 charge for taking money out or something, yeah?

Yeah, I don't imagine it being any different than in any other country. The system will do money conversion on the fly and you'll get USD equivalent in the local currency.

I was there last year, didn't notice anything extraordinary but only used it on ATMs, a friend is there now, using the card in stores too, and I don't hear him complain

In addition to the epassporte fees there is also an additional 150 baht (about $4.50) "foreign bank card charge" levied by the ATM machines of virtually all banks.

Why not? Your card is just as likely to be cloned in a fancy New York or London restaurant than it is in Thailand.

Yes you can use ePass card as well as any other card in Thailand and even worldwide
ATMs of most Thailand banks will take additional fee of 150 baht for withdraval from any foreign bank card as lagcam said.

You can put the money in your ePassporte "wallet", so even if they clone your card the chances are high they will never get your money because you only put it back on your visa cards when you take money out of the ATM's. If you want to play it really safe you could even get a new card after the trip for only $35.

Ignorant fool. There are very organized gangs of Albanians and Russians operating in places like London that will not only steal your CC details strait out the ATM but follow you home to go through your garbage.

Different countries, different crimes. Thailand has a gazillion banks, they are on every fucking corner of every street, just choose an ATM inside a bank.

Oh and saying ATM machine it is like saying PIN number you shouldn't, but it is common speak so who really gives a fuck?

Using your card in a Thailand bank ATM is no more risky than using it anywhere.

Using a card in any shop or restuarant ANYWHERE where they take it away from your eyes to process it is a risk. I always pay cash in bars, restaurants and small shops.

I've lived in various parts of Asia for 18 years now and have had an ATM or credit card card skimmed FOUR TIMES in Thailand. It's the only place it's happened. It hasn't happened in several years now, but it did happen there.

There are plenty of mafia types who are card skimming in Thailand. Israelis, Thais, Africans... you really have to be careful. Not only at ATMs, but anywhere. Don't let your card out of your site.

Shush if you read above your an ignorant fool.

Only happened to me once in my life - in Thailand as well. Though I have been to London 6 times and stayed much longer. Been to Moscow twice, been to NY city at least 10 times, and LA more times than I can count. Oddly my 1 week trip to Thailand landed my card in skimmedville.

Hasn't happened for a while is the keyword. Most scams are low tech telephone crap or receptionist taking your card at the back. If you are dumb enough to let them do that you deserve to be screwed.

And the man is asking about using ATMs, in bank ATM here are as safe as anywhere.

the exchange rate will probably be fucked up like everywhere else + the fee for taking out money.

Yes it can be used everywhere in the world if the ATM have the PLUS or Electron logo on it which is 99% of ATMs.
I have used the card to take out money in Thailand and Cambodia with no problems, the exchange rate is set by Visa and the rate I got were about 1 baht lower than US$ buy rate at the banks. A few banks do not charge the 150 baht fee mostly foreign owned bank the bigger one I found were AEON bank. There is a limit of 20-25000 baht per withdrawal depending on the bank owning the ATM but if your limits are higher its no problem making 2 x 20.000 at the same ATM if you need it.
In Cambodia the ATM gives out US$ with no fees.
