Ever sold a car online?

Im looking to sell my 2009 Audi A4. I currently lease it through Audi, but the buyout price is below what everyone is selling it for on Autotrader, Cars.com, Vehix, etc. so I might just do that instead and make a few bucks.

Ive never sold a vehicle before online, but anyone have any pointers? I sold my old accord to a guy that I knew but that turned out to be a pain in the ass, as when the transfer was going through he got a parking ticket and never paid it and they came to my door. Luckily I had proof or i would of been in deep dodo

..

I sold all my cars online, bill of sales are a must. Also, don't travel to meet people, make them come out to you, (trust me nothing is worse than wasting your time with a flaky buyer).

If you're shipping the car use escrow.com, if it's in person do the transaction at the bank and only accept a certified bank check. Even then you have to be careful, call the issuing bank before you accept the check and wait for the check to clear before you transfer the car into the buyer's name. Make sure you tell anyone interested in buying your car that upfront, that will scare off any scammers.

Nope, but I know someone who bought one and there seemed to be no issues. The problems start when you try sending it abroad...

I buy and sell all the time online, as said above use a bill of sale and put it in writing if there is or is not any warranty from you or another party (manufacturer for example).

Shipping and pickup within a certain time period is the responsibility of the buyer, make sure that is spelled out.

Make sure vehicle does not leave your possession until payment has been made in good funds. Meaning that any and all checks have been validated before deposit, etc.

Avoid using paypal for anything more than a deposit, too easy to reverse.
