Looking to get my Video onto DVD or under 4GB, 8GB per Minute in Sony Vegas? WTF?

New to producing content. Edited HDV video from my FX1 in sony vegas and its about 40 minutes long. It's time to render it but it's taking about 8GB per minute in uncompressed AVI and 50,000 kb in WMV. I was going to convert it to AVI and then use sony dvd architect to convert it from there to DVD but do I really need 320GB to save the uncompressed AVI? The original capture from my camera was only 8GB and all I did in Vegas was make some scenes out of it so I am kind of confused. Hope someone can shine some light onto the subject.

If Vegas allows you to use whatever AVI capable codecs you have installed then take a look at huffyuv. It's a lossless codec, so it compresses data so that the output won't be so huge, but it doesn't lose any quality by using lossy/non recoverable compression.

A codec is a program/device that compresses and decompresses video, so you don't need to save as raw data. If you're on 'doze then install huffyuv and see if Vegas offers that as an option when you save...
