I've had teeth pulled for less than that.

Animal health care reform. That's what's next.

I recently had a sick pet and paid out the wazoo. It certainly is expensive, but I wouldn't have done anything differently. I have been looking into pet health insurance though. It seems to be getting popular and the prices are pretty cheap (most seem to range around mid $xx a month).

Sucks yes, but my dog comes before me, I'll take him to the vet and avoid going to the doc myself.

I pay for insurance on my pets. VPI pet insurance.
They usually pay a good bit of any bills I get.
You have to pay the vet upfront, but then you mail VPI the bill and they send you a check.

you have to get pet insurance on your pets when they are puppies...

they wont insure older dogs..

and to the OP, or vet is a fucking crook..

i just took my dog to the vet for a bite and with stitches, wound cleaning, anesthesia, antibiotics, and pain meds to take home, the bill was $112.00

Yup pet insurance.
Just go fir either the low or middle option, not the best choice. That just covers vaccines, shots, pest control, etc. Though it costs about 2-3 times as much.

When my dog got ran over and had to be admitted and treated twice plus a follow up.Total bill was a tad over 1,000.00 they gave back close to 800.00 and it just took around 2-3 weeks to get paid back.
You will have to pay out of pocket though and wait for reimbursement.

Not bad. I just paid $133 for the vet to look my cat over and give me a tube of antibiotic cream.
