If i was Lensman i would have done the same, he made his money and for those that say it's never enough are just greedy, as far as for playboy with economic problems in the world have no control so selling the company in would be in their best interest. Um... it's not hard to see he's referring to the way people are treated. Have you noticed all the people who have "quit" or "moved on" for some great reason (or not)? With large companies that try to think of themselves as being professional, allowing employees to say they 'quit' is usually an ego-saving way to say they were fired.
