WP Hosts that can handle 25-50k daily wp installs.

Looking for a host that has the mysql and goods to handle wordpress installs pushing 25-50k daily on the accounts. Will most likely take a couple of them.

Only hosts that are CONFIDENT they will have no issues handling this load with the package they quote me only please.

These can be Virtuals, or Dedicated, I'm not picky, I just need it to be able to handle busy wordpress installs (and continually adding more, either by new accounts/packages or upgrades)

The sites are fairly 'db intensive'.

Also no need for any of the 'unlimitted bw, unlimitted space' etc type deals, I just don't have the time for marketing gimics nor bullshit. I will only work with reputable, known companies.

Apparently not all decent hosts can handle 25k uniques (75-90k loads) a day WP site. Once it hits about 15-20k a day you can see issues at many places.

Unfortunately, I'm having this problem right now and I refuse to jump to a 400-500 dollar a month dedicated, so I can work on a site (account) that has 5k (over estimate) a day worth of wp hits and is crumbling to the ground on every page load.

Way to pay attention. If you think I should pay 400 bucks for a dedicated because wordpress needs it for 5k hits a day then Im not sure what to say in response to that.

I second that, there are a few cache modules for WP that will produce amazing results. Had to install it on a few mainstream sites that were getting frontpage on digg, helped tremendously!

It eliminates the DB connection all together for those cached pages.

Maybe you should try VPS like this
http://www.hostgator.com/vps-hosting/

you get virtually a managed dedicated server but for a lower price

Just to get this out there as well. This isn't just a simple hosting issue, if it was just one 35k site, I'd toss it on a dedicated and forget about it. But this is a network of blogs (10 2-3k a day) that I have spaced out. So I do basically need a 'high end virtual' or even semi dedi that will handle the loads.

It seems the larger traffic single ones, (25k+) are less strain then a handful of them equaling that traffic.

Last time I checked, using wordpress with SEO urls (title but no numeric id) incurs a performance penalty that worsens with post count. Probably makes all the difference when you have a stock MySql configuration and shared resources.

In my opinion, the techs there are some of the best in the biz, but Ive got nothing for clues from any of them except 'get more ram' and 'thats wordpress for you'. (this is on an account that has maybe 4-5k a day, and has used 12gb of bw this month so far, maybe .025 of its monthly).

Makes sense, I've killed a 75 dollar VPS with a 1k a day blog, and 3k scruff traffic from feeder shit. (if there is even that much traffic on them).

So yeah, something is wrong.

I've used http://www.slhost.com/vps-hosting for a decent VPS setup in the past, starts at a low $25 per month.

Pacificrack have dedicated boxes from $99 per month.

Whatever host you are at must not know what they are doing bro. I have a blog network larger than what you mentioned on 1 dedicated server at techiemedia and it runs perfectly. Never any issues at all. It really sounds like your host doesn't know how to tweak a server very well.

Why not pay a dedicated server?

If you say you can build sites and blogs to push that much so easily, then you should have no problem to pay a serious dedicated server...

check your current sites for database issues. clean up them and see what happens. Anyway, you can get more than decent dedicated servers for $150 and you'll save the headaches

it all depends on WHAT SCRIPTS he is using on his WP blogs.
He said its all 'db intensive'.

ONE WP BLOG is not the same as ANOTHER WP BLOG.

Heres a link you should look at

Quote:
This is a copy of the mysql config files ( /etc/my.cnf ) I use for my production servers, this same configuration has been tested on a high traffic site, a forum server on vbulletin php software with over 1.2 million posts and over 2,000 concurrent users 24 hours a day. Also ive used this same configuration on another production server that manages over 15 high traffic and high data volume mysql databases.

yes i was going to say the same thing, there's a couple of scripts about that advise on modifying my.cnf.

here's one http://blog.mysqltuner.com/ you need to run it for 24-48 hours before it can give suggestions.

100k a day in WP traffic is dedicated server territory.

They oversell their boxes so bad, if you have any kind of serious traffic, you'll crumble the server.

Hello,

Sorry for a delayed response but I wanted to speak with our Systems Administrators before making a suggestion here. They recommended our Dell Cx-1950-Woodcrest server as the minimum baseline for the requirements you have posted and that can be seen on the Caro.Net Closeouts Page and starts at $229/mo.

In addition, while the service was still new with us (at least for the first couple of months or so) they recommended that you add in our Proactive Level One Managed Services.

Anyway hit me up directly and I will be happy to discuss all of the options with you and if need we can even do a conference call with one of the Systems Administrators to discuss the requirements further.

Good luck with your search and Happy Holidays.
