I haven't bothered with keyword density checking tools for 6 years.

Keyword phrase suggestion tools, available to the public - http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/ or https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.

http://tools.seobook.com/ is quite good.

You need this info after 10 years experience?

been a while since i checked to see whats out there. doesn't hurt to see what other people use. I don't have 10 years experience with seo.

I wouldn't worry about keyword density, just tell your writers to keep it natural and don't "stuff".
