Rolex watch pricing help

I've been looking online for nice discount on a Rolex and it seems that they are near impossible to get on sale. Amazon has them only 6% off MSRP! I was wondering if you bought yours at something like 15-25% off brand new, you'd post the website url for me. Would prefer a US-based website, but I'm open if it saves me big bucks.

as he says, although there are a lot of reputable dealers online, there are also a huge # of scams. A brick and mortar authorized dealer will back the product

I bought mine at a Jared store in South Florida when I lived there. They took 20% off the retail price. They do have a website but they do not sell rolex from the online store.

if you go to a dealer you will have a better shot. most places online only have static prices, jewelry stores will have more leeway

i almost bought one last year and the guy dropped the price from $8k to $7k on the spot, then called me two days later and said if I can pay with cash, he would give it to me for $6k

I would not buy any watches online. I have bought quite a few Rolex over the years. I find that the mall Jewelry stores, believe it of not, are the best place to buy fine watches. We have a Ben Bridge Jewelers here in LA that I have bought several watches from. I do all my research online so I don't have to rely on the salesmens knowledge. Once you set up a relationship with a jewler you can get good discounts and you have a place to go if their are any problems. Definitely don't pay the asking price!

I just replaced the face on a GMT Master II and Ben Bridge has a working relationship with Rolex so it was easy to take care of, and I know that all the seals etc are re-packed properly.

Provident Jewelry in Ft Lauderdale and Ft Myers Florida are a pretty good operation. They also have a great selection of "pawned" watches from the no longer wealthy.

You may want to consider taking a cruise and buying one off-shore (duty free).

I just took a cruise on Royal Carribbian and went to St. Martin, Aruba, St. Thomas, etc. Every port city had lots of reputable Jewlry stores. There was even a Rolex Factory store in one of the towns. Many of these stores are authorized dealers for Rolex and if you are not picky about the exact style you can find a good sale.

Heck, you can even fly to St. Martin (or Saint Marteen on the US side) and save enough to make it worth the trip.

This is probably too extreme for what you want to do, but the savings more than covers the cost of a trip and you get a nice vacation out of it. Now is a great time to go when the temperature is in the 80s.

I'm looking at a watch on overstock.com right now, it's about 50% off retail. There's no manufacturer warranty though, because they're not an authorized dealer. I'm really leery about buying a watch online, I think I'm just going to go try to get a deal at a jewelry store.

if you buy a rolex make sure you get papers on it and find out the year it was made.. makes a difference on value too. you can get great deals in the jewelry district downtown Los Angeles. Alot of the dealers will post on ebay so you can find them and call direct.

When I bought got my second Rolex several years ago, I was looking at getting it online, but I checked with Rolex and they told me do not honor warranties on a Rolex that does not come from an authorized Rolex retailer and at that time they said no online stores were authorized to sell them.

Now that could have changed in the past few years, but before putting the money into one, I would check with Rolex themselves to make sure.

Go with Rhonda's advice. I bought mine in Antigua. Duty free, no tax. That alone covered the cost of my vacation.

a lot of guys do that, hell you can get it done right here in TO. But something to remember, it actually detracts from the value of the watch over long term, because its not a factory original.

Serial in tact it's not a factory original that's all. All real rolex pieces. It's a matter if you are a collector or not. I collect Panerai's. Have 7 of them and would never buy one that I didn't know was 100% authentic. That said most people buying a rolex are probably not collectors and just want the bang on their wrist.
