Why does being positive and productive attract so many haters?

just something I have noticed, the more positive and productive you are the more those around you seem to envy and dislike you more.

You could come here and say you just won a million dollars, you have 100 virgins in your bed and a house in every state and there would be a list of haters!!

Haters, your jealousy wont taint success!

Remain positive and productive and watch those around you show their true colorsand feelings about you.

because misery loves company... its true. Most people who are miserable can make themselves feel better by pulling others down to their level of misery. Happy people make them jealous, if they can make someone unhappy it makes them feel better about themselves. That is the main objective behind so many trolls who post here that never have anything good to say.

I used to be a very negative person but that was when I was drinking, I havent had a sip of alcohol in 5 years and I am a positive and productive person. What I have seen is this: those who do busienss on GFY have come more and more to me, business is better than ever. But the haters, are as plentiful as ever as well. People who have no visible business in this industry, they have no clients or conduct business in any way! I know misery loves company, but this seems a bit more psychological.

Ive seen the envy in some real life friends too, a somewhat "must be nice" attitude regarding me working from home and not having to punch a clock etc...

Its not just on GFY but haters are everywhere, and in my experience, the BETTER YOU ARE DOING, the more people will hate you. LOL

One of my rules for real life friends is that, if someone ever says "I hate you" when I tell them good news, they are not someone I want to be friends with. I believe that there is a genuine lack of support in that type of jest. If someone is my friend, their tragedy is my sorrow and their triumph is my joy.

I honestly think the internet has raised a lot of people's sense of who they are competitive. So you'll get some teenager in the middle of nowhere feeling crazy envious of some pop star getting attention. People can't identify their peer groups any more and this makes the sort of people who need that more hateful.

Hold on, by calling a herd a herd I am negative? LOL

Someone asked why is Avatar so popular and I reply with my opinion, had NOTHING to do with me beging negative LOL its common sense that msot people are going see Avatar based on herd mentality, analyzing that aspect of society and trends does not make me negative.

Some of you try way too hard to be a psychiatrist on gfy and read too deep into crap people post on a public forum.

this is why many of us have a small list of people we actually call *friends*

Those who matter are there when it counts, the rest withered away long ago.

As I said, I am having great day, and can tell by peoples response not on GFY but on my family/friends facebook that when you doing good and being positive those around you can and do envy your position to the point it becaomes jealousy...

I think it's called 'the Poppyseed Theory' or some such. It goes: when a single poppy plant grows taller than those around it, the others will 'chop it down to size' to keep it at the same height as all the others. There's another analogy of black ants in a bucket. If one starts to climb to the top, and to freedom, the other ants - or maybe it's sand crabs - pull it back into the bucket.

Group-think, low-self-esteem, anger issues, pent up grievences, pick 'em.

Sorry it was a reference to "knowing" your posts back when you drank so maybe what I read now is skewed due to that.

The idea that the only reason the 2nd highest grossing movie of all time is getting viewers is due to herd mentality could be construed as negative. Sort of ignores the use of new technology to make it, the need to see it in a theater versus download it and the fact that it was pretty fun to watch. The herd effect is probably helping but lots of people like to be in the know or do social things.

This whole thread is pompous.....Why even bother telling people who aren't even your friends about how good things are in your life? If you don't know us, keep quiet and tell people who would actually care about your success....

No it is not. The study of the way humans behave socially is not negative or positive, it is neither. Peers influence peers from early on, and denying that is to deny the facts of how humans behave!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herd_mentality

I guess I read Neitzsche too often, instead of going to the movies.

HATER ALERT!! HATER ALERT LOL Yo BVF good to see you man, I had you on FFVBUL ignore for over a year, but using Chrome right now so i see your post LOL

Many people come to GFY to boast about good things in life, and often bad things. I am no different, however, it is you dislike of me that makes my threads different.

And assuming the movie is bad is a negative thing. A positive person would assume it was good as lots of people have liked it. I know this is a hard concept to grasp.

Going out and seeing people while going to a movie that will allow you to further interact with your friends later as you discuss a well known cultural event would also be the acts of a positive person.

But you are obviously a happy positive person so carry on.

ah but that is where you are wrong, I never stated whether the movie was bad or good.

The QUESTIOn of the thread was why are so many people going see it. So I posted herd mentality. As everyone can have an opinion right? LOL

You WANT to equate my observation with negativity but its not true. Discussing the herd mentality of the success of this film has zero to do with whether or not the movie is good. In fact, it precisely proves my point, if the movie is GOOD, the herd will go see it more.

Haters, your jealousy wont taint success!

Remain positive and productive and watch those around you show their true colorsand feelings about you.
In reality, most people that are either jealous, haters or just plain nasty, only get nasty when there is a croud of the same kind. On the internet in forums, its obviously different as you have prats that comment how they want of which, the conversation would normally be non and void. In a forum, the comment is infinity.
It is envious people, as there have been lots of threads that I was going to comment on but why would I when it would only be a negative point. I keep most of my negative points to myself unless its absolutly vital or true.

People can't identify their peer groups any more and this makes the sort of people who need that more hateful.
I agree. The youth are changing and there certainly isnt much respect from people anymore.
Things shall change. The people that know each other now shall see the ones that are in this for the full 9 yards shall still be in it at the end. Its those people that shall hopefully shake hands & respect one another.

This isnt a game, its not just to make a buck. Its a career & businesses should be respected by one another.

Sometimes, when my work has been pissed on by several people, I wonder if they are the types of people that either would have dressed in white out in the US many years ago or would they have been the mafia, burning down a home and shop with the children upstairs.

They have no right to say nasty comments, the truth is fine, just nasty comments are not!

Its not just on GFY but haters are everywhere, and in my experience, the BETTER YOU ARE DOING, the more people will hate you. LOL

They're usually the ones who need to be punched.

Ha, ha, that's awesome to see here. At least some GFYers should get it. When I try that in a room where most folks don't run their own thang, they don't see the humor.

Man, was the movie that good???? lol

maybe ill go see it now!!!
the movie was pretty good. I went to see it one of the first couple days it was released before everyone started hyping it. It's definitly a different setting/story line, the animation/graphics whatever they call it is pretty cool. 3D technology has come a long way since the last time I have seen it.

Problem with hype is that very few things live up to it. If people had been hyping the movie for weeks and then I went to see it, I might have been a little disapointed.

the joke is on them really though, i leave out the part about " it must be nice to work till age 65 and then realize you can't retire, that what little money you have in your 401K, the govt is going to take almost 1/2 of it in taxes when you start taking it out, there is little to no ss money left for you, that you blew money your whole life and that 9-5 job certaintly didn't help you with building wealth. " <- don't mention that to them, they get really pissed at you then and think you are an asshole

guess you can't blame them all, working for yourself isn't for everyone, some people need to be told with to do because they don't have self control and discipline.

Negativity and trolling seems to increase postcount a lot quicker than other types of posts.

I have noticed that there seems to be more negativity on the internet. As a webmaster if your sites are climbing and doing good, making sales. Sharing that information will get you many responses on how you must be cheating, stealing and doing things dishonest is the reason your doing good. Hardly ever a comment on how your hard work is finally paying off and people expressing praise.

At the same time if your business is not doing good and you share that info you will get many responses about how you are fucking up and doing this ,that and the other wrong. Rarely will you get a response that will assist you and with some helpful advice and encourage you to make a change here or there and keep plugging away.

Doing business on the internet is about the same as jumping into the alligator pit at the zoo. And many that you converse with want to keep you in the pits.

The other thing I see that brings so much negativity is just as has been expressed in this thread, misery loves company. And miserable people who have miserable lives seem to get on the computer and get lost in the false reality that the internet is a savior for their miserable lives and that they are now something other than a miserable soul. Because they are now hiding behind the illusion that those that they happen to interact with on the internet cannot see in reality the real miserable person they are. People seem to have the false sense that they can be what ever they want to be hiding at their desk behind their screen. When the reality is that the miserable, negative person that they really are comes out in the things they say and how they say them. And if you do not understand that this is the way it is on the internet then you too are destined to be pulled down into the miserable world so many seem to love to live in.

The internet can be a good reality to interact in. As long as you have a real life outside and in addition to it. The internet being the central reality in your life will leave you lost with no grip on reality if someone happens to flip the switch off or you forget to pay your electric bill.

There is a psychology to everything in life and understanding the psychology behind the internet can lead you to the positive life enhancing benefits of the internet. True understanding and knowing who your friends are will also give you benefits from the herd effect.

Just my thoughts...

It depends. They may hate you on your success or they may actually have a reason to not like you. I noticed that a lot of people that claim to have many haters, usually act like an ass and then claim to be a victim when called on it.

I see people on Twitter all the time making posts just for their haters. Pretty weird.

Or ... they may have deep psychological issues that cause them to hate on others for reasons that are not always - shall we say "sensible"

Some of you try way too hard to be a psychiatrist on gfy and read too deep into crap people post on a public forum.

Please dude. There are plenty of threads, especially among what is currently popular at the moment that you chime in with comments about it being stupid, that you just don't get it and that you would never waste your time doing such a thing, etc. not exactly positive. and don't get me wrong, you may be right but don't go getting on your high horse about yourself.

Any time we make a change in our lives, others in our environment will either be a help or a hindrance to our making permanent progress. If they continue to think of us in the same way as they have in the past, then their sense of certainty (beliefs) about who we've been can actually serve as a negative anchor, temporarily pulling us back into the old limiting emotions and beliefs that were once a part of our identity.

We must be aware that we hold the ultimate power to define who we are. Our past does not determine our present or future. Take action and claim your new, empowering identity, starting today.
