I had a girlfriend once who was into country music, and no other kind of music. I would listen to country and try to get into it, and there's a lot of good stuff out. But when I would put on rock or metal, she would get this look in her eyes like I changed into a monster, so of course it didnt last.
I did attend a nice concert when we were together though, back in the 80's. Randy Travis, The Judds and Highway 101 if I remember right. Mamma judd was hot in her red dress.

I like older country like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and country rock like The Outlaws, Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers and the like. Today's "country" is just watered down Pop with some cowboy hats.

guilty of liking this, though:

Speedy West and Jimmy Bryant

They have much better tunes, but this is the only actual video I could find. If you dig it, pick up a copy of the album "Stratosphere Boogie," which has some of the greatest guitar duo work ever recorded, IMO.

Fantastic thread. Country musicians are the poets of popular music. I kinda like the outlaws...Willie, Waylon and the rest.

Yeah, I like Kenney Chesney. I saw his concert in Toronto in the summer of 2009 at the Molson Ampitheatre. That was after I saw Karen O's concert on August 4, 2009 at the Kool Haus, Toronto.

At both concerts I was working as a security guard.

It sure beats rap, hip hop, acid rock, and the likes. Rap Music is the oxymoron of the 20th and 21st century. And more moron than oxy.

I love all music except the above and classic opera. Just cannot see through it. And, I was a professional musician for over 40 years ... still play and record. Play trumpet, trombone, saxaphone, keyboards (have 4 including a Lowrey organ), guitar and bass (my favorite with trumpet being second). Have a Fender Jazzmaster (old style) and a Gretch short fret bass. Give me a 500 watt amp and some good musicians from jazz to country to 50's rock and I go into orbit.
