The "greenest" country in the world, ranking.

This research was conduct by The Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) of Columbia University and Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy at
Yale University.

Pretty Interesting, USA is at # 61

Going "green" is just an excuse to tax us even more than they already do...

Suprising the UK is 14th thats for sure.

Canada was suprising aswell considering the amount of recycled products people use, and the low population.

Haiti one of the worst, because they have no respect for human life and no respect for nature. And now we're sending millions in. They must be blessing the day when the earthquake struck. Check out the Border Between Haiti and the Dominican Republic on Google maps. Haiti cut down all the fucking trees.

So because they have no respect for humans, they cut down trees, that's why they aren't green?

I hope that Zeitgeist site isn't yours...

Wow, what a joke, the only reason any parts of Costa Rica are "green" is because they don't have the money to chop those parts down yet... These guys have absolutely no respect for the environment, the pollution and litter is fucking disgusting. A lot of the beach towns dump their sewage directly into the ocean, and in the last few years most the cleanest beaches have lost their "blue flag" rating (a system to encourage eco cleanliness).

Is there a list of the criteria used? How they could put Canada below Costa Rica makes no sense to me, having lived a long time in each country.

Has anyone been to Mexico? They are actually semi industrialized and there is trash and human waste everywhere. There's so much garbage in beach cities... go scuba diving in Acapulco. You'll see more Styrofoam monsters than fish.

I imagine much of central and south america to be the same way.

Knew Iceland was first... that country practically runs on geothermal energy right now, and their recycling practices are second to none.

Thought that was weird myself. I remember hearing stories about how certain companies move some factories to Mexico just because of their lax pollution standards.

It’s 2 billion dollars and rising. Any one who thinks it will go to solving the problems they have after the aid teams leave, is living in a dream world.

It was a failed nation before, will be after and that has to be solved from the inside.

Yeah well that's nothing new there. That's why the third world countries got most of the west's industry.

"These indicators provide a gauge at a national government scale of how close countries are to established environmental policy goals."

Read: The EPI is nothing but a rating system that gauges how well countries have legislated, implemented, and followed through on the corrupt environmental policies of the UN and their UN Local Agenda 21 program.

That is one list Canada would be not want to be at the top of.
