I didn't watch it, so this information may not be factual, but a friend of mine said they interviewed visitors of a porn show. They asked if they paid for online porn, and they basically stated that they did not, because it was free. He also told me they interviewed the main guy from Vivid who was also complaining about the state of the biz, who said that a new business model was needed, but did not seem to know what that business model would be. He also said he had full time staffers doing nothing but tracking down pirated content, which would go up again, almost as fast as it was taken down.

Again, this is second hand info, so I don't know if it is 100% accurate, but it all sounded pretty credible.

Any verification?

its cool to watch yourself in the background on national news... thats a spun story btw, the customer they interviewed was a dumbfuck podunk looking tourist. nightline could have interviewed a fan that had 14 dvd boxes under his armpit that he all wanted to get signed. but then there would be no story to spin. i do think vivids owner could have been better spoken imho... they could have also passed me the mic

One of the idiots interviewed at the trade show just summed it up. He smugly said "why pay for it when you don't have to?"

But you do HAVE to pay for it. Porn is free if you don't have ethics or morals.

This is the same guy who wouldn't walk into Macy's and steal 10 shirts. He wouldn't do that because he'd have police chasing him down and taking him to jail. there's no danger of that happening on the internet.

I am intensely offended by this pattycake story that took a "just business" approach to a so called industry that on the surface is just barely within the boundary of legality and in practice is well outside that boundary. This "industry" is very close to slavery and certainly well into institutionalized battery. Do you think that ratings are worth trivializing this brutal business? Letting some of the leader's porn sound like the local hardware businessman is morally bankrupt. Had you used your investigative powers and tools to look under the dirty sheets what you would have found would make you gag. Read the porn chapter in Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, Chris Hedges', "Empire of Illusion," and face your righteous shame.

I wish congress would make all pornography illegal.

Okay, let me get this straight. These people in the pornography business are questioning the "Integrity" of other people who access all of their pornography for free or via Pirating? Hello!!! since when does anyone who watches pornography have any integrity in the first place. And oh no, don't come at me about me being "judgmental" since these people already crossed that road themselves by even having the audacity to question why some or many of their own would-be customers don't "have integrity . . ." in the first place. You play with fire, you get burned. So burn pornography burn, I have no sympathy for your sufferings.

When I saw it this idiot was so frantic he had double posted, maybe he should jerk off. I'll go ahead and bet he works somewhere he has direct contact with children. Priest, gym teacher, camp counselor or the like [you know what I mean].

It's always the "hero" types that fall the hardest.

I don't think it's dead but I do think a harder sale these days. Quality over quantity will still convert. I think camgirls and solo girls that put the effort into their sites also has a higher addiction than a regular multi site where the girls change each week.

*...pornographers have led the way in creating capital from new forms of distribution. But being at the forefront of Internet profit-making has made the industry vulnerable to losses from Internet piracy.

Hollywood is hurting because of it (whocares), more importantly we know porn is hurting and the music industry is hurting.

Will porn once again be the industry to find a way to stop piracy, or find a way around piracy, or lead a new way to making the big bucks again?

Or... (after 15 years of nothing)

...will Rock N' Roll, the industry that single handedly chased "The Beaver's out of Mayberry" while paving the way for heartfelt rebellion with sex, drugs, and rock n' roll, rise up again and win the battle for all to prevail?

Here is my 2 cents on this whole PORN epidimic as both a male porn star and as a person who buys porn.....

ALL YOU INTERNET GUYS. who are competing with each other need to band together and communicate on ways to freeze up this piracy.. because its now ( names off my head) realit kings, incredible dollars, etc versus the pirater not each other.. create ways to stop it and discuss it with each other albeit encryption..I.E.copyright or TM a symbol and put it in the scenes somewhere Not your co name but a cross or something if PRINCE can TM a symbol why can't you

2 MAKE DVDs AFFORDABLE.. i went and wanted to buy NOT the cosby's from my hustler store and it was 59.99 ( i realize this is hustler and not the wholesalers and dist) i passed on it and walked out went to another store and paid 39.99 really... cant make a profit off 19.99??? why would I wanna pay those prices when im tightening my budget???

people are going to watch porn people are still going to masturbate or get the other in the mood or etc........ maybe everyone should dumb it down alittle and look at how can we get them to buy again.... maybe lower your site prices alittle dont let people freely be able to download the clips to thier computer I dont know.... i just get donations to fuck ( keeping it legal guys) \

thats my 2 cents

The night is darkest just before the dawn...

The file sharing world is growing out of control, as well as the ability to momentize them and keep them under the radar of law makers...

I predict in the next 5 years, torrents, sites like rapidshare, megaupload and tubes with full length content will be in trouble; for one reason or another.

Illegal file sharing will never cease to exist, but it will eventually start going backwards instead of growing exponentially year after year. Unfortunately a lot of industries will suffer until that happens.

Yeah, but the problem is that there isn't a store sitting next to Macy's handing out the same products for free that Macy's is selling.

People go to SEs and put in 'free porn' when looking. Is it their fault people in our own industry stacked the results with free porn?

When you start to promote a site that is not cams do a sitename.com torrent search on google. If it is hard or impossible to find you can still get full paper.

Ethics and morals are relative... a lot of people would argue that a person with ethics or morals wouldn't be online downloading porn to start with. Other people would also agree that if you are online downloading porn, at least you shouldn't be financially supporting the companies that exploit these young women for profit.

These aren't my viewpoints, but there are a lot of people out there that indulge in porn but not necessarily support it. You would be hard pressed to find a person that feels any sort of guilt over ripping off a pornographer.

I predict in the next 5 years, torrents, sites like rapidshare, megaupload and tubes with full length content will be in trouble; for one reason or another.

Illegal file sharing will never cease to exist, but it will eventually start going backwards instead of growing exponentially year after year. Unfortunately a lot of industries will suffer until that happens.

within 5 years of making that statements the home viewing market became the largest money maker for the movie industry.

amazingly enough if you truly understand the market conditions you can make way more money leveraging rather then fighting this "piracy"
