You are truely misled if you think they will win next 2 games as easillys they won laas2.
Germany well that was a joke. Rusans had nothing, goalie was aweful, no one skated hard and Im sure coach is saying just that.

There is no team under the sun that would have an answer for the Canadian team that showed up lastnight.

Yup. Totally right. If they keep up that level of play and even improve on it slightly they will cut through the rest of the teams they face like a hot knife going through some sort of soft gooey almost butterlike substance.

Canada finally looked like they realized they are a Dream Team and started to have fun with it.

Ovechkin pretending his finger was broken so he could get as far away from the blame as possible sealed the deal on the Ovechkin/Crosby debate as far as I am concerned. I seem to recall him doing the same or similar in the play-offs last year.

Was it just me or did most of the Czech - Finland game seem about as interesting as another zamboni lap around the ice?

Oh fucking please. I'm Canadian, I watched the game, i saw what went down. Nabokov sucked fucking balls. If he didn't start the game in net for Russia, things could have went entirely different.

So it is all his fault? Where was the rest of the team when Canada was playing tick-tack-toe with the puck in front of his net? Once he was replaced how long before Canada scored again? Couple minutes?

Russian solidarity looked more like rushing solid hilarity.

Nabokov gave up goals on the first 2 shots of the second period, after letting 4 go in the first. How many goals did Bryzgalov let in? 1 right after he got thrown into the game with an already warmed up team. Bryzgalov was pretty on point and made some great saves on big plays. Nabokov was a fucking sieve, and I'm pretty sure had Bryzgalov started the game for Russia, things would have been a lot closer.

Pierre McGuire said that Canada was playing near perfect hockey in that game and I have to agree with him on that.

Their passing was bang on and they were setting up great plays. They were playing great hockey. Don't chasnge the fact any that Nabokov was getting fucking owned in that net, where Bryzgalov stood in their and put up an amazing fight. I stand by my own argument that had Nabokov not started the game for Russia, it would have been a lot tighter.

I won't argue much. Nabakov could have played a little better for sure. But really, the Russian team weren't playing with any spirit, and to me that's what killed them. Their best players couldn't put anything together at all. I know that Ovie, Malkin, Datsyuk, Semin... they are all way better than what we saw last night.

From last night...

From last spring...

I love this rivalry and it is FAR from being over.

It felt like I was watching a high school game compared to the level of intensity and electricity in the air that the Canada-Russia game had.

You raise a good point. Put it this way, had they pulled Nabokov after the 1st period it would have been a different game. Why? Because once they finally did get him out of there the Russians outscored Canada 2-1.

Better to have pulled him at 4-1 than 6-1.

This is very true, the pace of the game changed substantially once Bryzgalov came in.

I really don't think we have too too much to worry about coming in Slovakia tomorrow, but I sure hope the Canadian team isn't taking their win over Russia as any indication of their Olympic Gold coming to fruit already, because the US has a worrisome team coming up for us.

Gonna watch our ladies beat some yank bitches down this afternoon though. I think we're still confidently dominating the whole realm of women's hockey.

I agree. (I just like taking a strong position because sports debates are always more fun that way).

In the game of hockey, it is never the goaltenders fault. Even if it is. Entirely. That is just the way it is. Being a goalie is like being a convict... you are never guilty of what they say you are guilty of even if you were caught red-handed... or glove side on a dribbler from 30 feet out without a screen.
