Do companies sue their other companies?
If court awards aren't taxable,
Why don't people just lose all of their money to their friends in court and then enjoy everything tax free? Does that happen? |

The taxability of court settlements depends on what the settlement is for. If it is compensation for a loss, in general it is not taxable. If it is a 'penalty' it will be taxable.
